After a five-year hiatus a cast reunites as The Final Rule returns! Bigger, better, and improvier than ever - The Final Rules manifests now as two simultaneously occurring and, as always, completely improvised campaigns.
Being sent to find a mysterious artifact never ends well, turns out. Virgil (Chase Bernard,) Michael (Vincent Bianca,) and Ssssssylvia (Sophia Brazda) must reckon with a new land where the water tastes like lime and there's only one car on the highway. Worst of all... did any of you remember your wallets?

Long ago, in a distant land, far beyond the reaches of common sense, a band of merry adventurers are well, they're doing something, that's for sure. But to be all mystical and shit. Welcome to the final rule, we're saying maybe I think it's a very good idea.
SPEAKER_09Um, I am Justin Haflick, and I'm your dungeon master, and I am uh I I I also have some lovely uh players here. So uh we'll start at the top left. Sophia.
SPEAKER_14What's up, guys? Brasda's back.
SPEAKER_09Heck yeah. And uh yeah, yeah. Uh say who uh say who you guys are playing too for our audio listeners out there.
SPEAKER_03Love the audio listeners. I'm playing yes. Um I have uh incredible stuff going on. It's probably gonna be the biggest arc since uh breaking bad, sort of what we've been talking about, right? Um private. Um she's got a lot going on. Um, my god. I mean, where to even begin? She's a complex female figure. Um, she's part snake. She is a mime in a past life, she's a warlock, fathomless. So much going on.
SPEAKER_09All right, beautiful for you guys.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_09Boy, am I ready. All right, Vincent. Hi, I'm Vincent Bianca.
SPEAKER_07I play Michael, the lizard folk ranger, who is so not complicated at all, pretty straightforward, uh, minuscule arc. I think he's not gonna learn any lessons at all over the course of our adventure, and he'll remain the same at the end as he was when he started.
SPEAKER_09Nice. Nice. As reptilian at the end is how he starts. Maybe we'll change that. Maybe, maybe, uh, maybe Sophia will be able to, you know, get underneath those scales and try to make you open up.
SPEAKER_14I love a static character, not static.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, he'll try so hard. That's what the theater collective is all about, right? Absolutely.

SPEAKER_00And Chase? Alright, hello everyone. My name is Chase Bernard, and I will be playing Virgil, the Furbog monk, our uh our character that's not in the theater collective, that has been split away from his only friend and will now have to deal with the turmoil that is ensued.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I'm uh yeah, we'll we'll we'll see kind of how that uh that all turns out. Uh, because you're not too happy with uh well everyone. Not at all. I would even say including your your your one friend Typhus.
SPEAKER_00Including typhus. I don't I don't know, Virgil.
SPEAKER_14Friend is a really flowery term, uh barnacle, parasitic relationship.
SPEAKER_09It it he really tags along. It's more of like uh, okay, well, he's here. I might as well just uh just let him be along for the ride.
SPEAKER_10Yeah.
SPEAKER_03More cousin energy than friend energy for sure.
SPEAKER_09Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Acquaintances, maybe.
SPEAKER_09Uh yeah, so um, and uh this is the only crew we have, as uh we are now after that first session splitting up into two campaigns.
SPEAKER_11What?
SPEAKER_09We are the final rule order campaign, and then there is the second one that'll be airing in uh live streaming here in two weeks. That will be the chaos campaign. So uh we are uh we're super excited to see how that one turns out as well. Yeah, um but uh yeah, our boring party? Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. I mean, it's a fair question.
SPEAKER_02We were all thinking it, right?
SPEAKER_01Like shocks, like well, I mean not even hot couldn't be us.
SPEAKER_14No, I just want to make sure.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, no, we're we're not team, right? Everyone in the chat is going team chaos for life and what uh well that seems like team is a go first, right? Yeah, team is a go first. Yeah, exactly. Exactly. We're the better team.
SPEAKER_03Doesn't like the smaller team normally open for the bigger team at like oh yikes.
SPEAKER_09Whoa, whoa. That's so stressful.
SPEAKER_00Don't worry, guys. Maybe we can turn it around by uh inserting a musical number somewhere in the first session. Boy, okay, we'll do it.
SPEAKER_09Right, we'll figure it out. We'll find out for that. Um but uh let me think. Um, yeah, so if you guys have um well, I guess the first thing here I would probably say is if you guys want to donate, of course, we have our uh uh link down or a QR code down there to our PayPal. Um it goes to the uh well, I'll let uh Chase uh kind of explain all that.
SPEAKER_00He's a bit more uh Oh my goodness, yeah.
SPEAKER_01As president of the Arcadian Renaissance Theater Creatives, the nonprofit theater that is helping host the Final Rule, um your donations go to a nonprofit theater company. And what does it do? It helps us pay our lovely artists that work with us and make these wonderful shows, like the Final Rules, like the Creative Showcase, like all the other cool things that we have in store. Um so if you donate to us, it is yeah, I'm explaining it. I know. I'm um so uh basically we you'll you know it'll be a tax write-off, which is awesome. You'll also be supporting artists because our goal is to pay our artists.
SPEAKER_09That is like our first big goal is to be able to pay our artists something at least. So you would be helping in that.
SPEAKER_01Also, if you donate, like I'm gonna be honest, if you donate anything to us, you'll give us a fake coin. And what what that will do is basically that lets us have a chance to re-roll our terrible roles. But if we use a fake coin, that means that Justin gets to basically pull a suggestion that then can royally screw the person that used the fake coin over. Make things more interesting, you know, change things up like a bit of wild magic.
SPEAKER_08Yes, beautiful, beautiful. Tools for destruction, my favorite.
SPEAKER_01Um, so uh and eventually that will be automated, but we'll just have to check and see if people are donating at this at this point. Depositing your pay no Logan, no. Don't deposit your paycheck.
SPEAKER_10Um, but anyways, that's enough of this spiel. I think we can we I think we should get on to the the the fun stuff.

So, um, of course, like any uh any sort of improv show, we pull suggestions out of our Discord in the bucket. We have a bucket, and so if you have suggestions, please go to our Discord and enter in there. What our bucket is pulled today is our suggestion is three, not one, not two, but three cats. You can't forget the question mark exclamation point. Um but three cats is gonna be our suggestion, and that is kind of where we will go. Uh, but first, let's do a quick little recap. A lot of stuff happened last session, yeah. Uh, where the whole party was uh together. Uh Virgil, you, and Typhus were hanging out in the park playing with some ducks when there were some ruffians behind you guys uh playing in the bushes. You guys confronted them for defacing the bushes, and Sylvia decided to throw a one of the clockwork ducks at a guard's head. Uh, you guys ended up getting arrested, taken to jail, meeting Mr. Gruyere, uh, the famous Mr. Gruyere from the Billboards, and then you guys were pulled into an interrogation where you guys were asked for an artifact. Come to find out that Arnold had access to this artifact that he had sold to put his security deposit down for your guys's uh to move into your guys' um uh joined apartments and uh blamed it all on Virgil. Uh basically said he sold it to Virgil. Come to find out it was another fur bulg that was sold to after selling it to his cousin. You guys venture out to where those uh two fur bulgs were traveling across out of the metro city uh into a barren desert, uh dried, cracked ground as you guys were traveling across it. A huge shoot. I was having trouble last time explaining what it is. Fissure, thank you. Wow, you're welcome anytime. Thank you. Uh Fissure opens up behind you guys. You guys run. Virgil almost falls in, but is able to uh you know get up, uh grabbing your oh man, what was what was the uh what was the clockworks name that you guys have? It was started with a D. Defer? Defer, yes, yeah.
SPEAKER_01But it was a Halbert 44 unit.
SPEAKER_09Halbert 44 unit, yes, yes. A halberd 44 unit that you guys called Deefer. You were able to pull yourself up there. Michael was able to uh save his friend Arnold, declaring he he owes Arnold more than what ever that was. So I I don't know what that that all is. We'll we'll see. Uh, and then Sylvia getting unfortunately rejected by some deity uh before you know finding that inner drive to push through. Uh, but you guys made it to the little house that um Gurgil and Dirgil, deferable cousins, uh were at. They tried to swindle you guys, you guys were able to convince them to take you guys to the artifact, which looks looked to have been under the ground, but as you guys jumped off the cave, went into this door, entered a normal-looking residential home, you opened another door that seemingly underground, and you are in the suburbs. The suburbs that everyone knows about, knows they were there, but doesn't and knew that they fell into hell, uh, but are unable to tell, you were unable to know what they look like, perhaps who was there. Um but as you go into here, you guys feel safe. You guys felt safe and comfortable. As Gurgil and Dirgil takes you to another home in the backyard in the garden, you guys meet Arnold's cousin, who is Muffins, not Mittens. Mizin Mittens is is the other cousin, the little guy, and Muffins offered you guys that you guys could um if you guys could figure out how to put this artifact together, you guys can have it by uh figuring out the mage IKEA's instructions to uh put this artifact together. Typhus, unfortunately, the last time Virgil, you saw Typhus, he went unconscious, and then you guys look to be like being consumed, becoming like more than what he was. But as that happened and this this artifact comes uh into form, turning into this sliding door, uh sliding back and forth, um, you guys all black out. And as you all begin to gain consciousness back. You hear wind howling winds brushing past your ears. Uh I guess I guess Virgil has hair. I was about to say all your guys' hair, but two of you guys are reptilians.
SPEAKER_11I don't know. I mean I guess you guys can't have hair.
SPEAKER_09But uh, Virgil, you you feel this air air rushing past you guys, uh and as you guys open your eyes, uh seeing this speckled green liquid that you guys seem to be floating in, flying through uh at speeds you've never gone before. Through liquid that you can feel this this liquid going past your skin through your body But at speeds that you shouldn't be traveling under liquid.
SPEAKER_10Guys, can anyone hear me? What's going on?
SPEAKER_02You guys hear one, two, one, two Mike Jack one two one two What is going on?
SPEAKER_09This uh this eardrum beating sound of just the wind uh waves in your ears and uh you guys hear again. You I see you I see you as you guys swirling up, you guys come up out of this liquid, splashing out and seeing this blue sky as you guys fly up splash back into this this uh green water some of it got in my mouth It's lime flavored It is lime flavored, what the hell?
SPEAKER_03Does anyone else have clumps lumps and clumps of of viscous solid in the back of the throat?
SPEAKER_09Oh yeah, it's there's any city.
SPEAKER_03Wow, it's Cleveland Cleveland. It was a a a made-up little city I I once wrote a fanfiction about when I was deep into in in the wicked Wizard of Oz fandom about ten years ago. God, it's beautiful. It's the Kansas of the North.
SPEAKER_01Kansas What are you talking about? We're literally in Cleveland, like the a fan fiction city? What gives you that idea?
SPEAKER_03It's giving Cleveland vibes.
SPEAKER_10Oh okay.
SPEAKER_07Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_10I was about to say, I'll believe anything at this point.
SPEAKER_03Oh god And my guy, Kansas is a band, so don't get that right, right.
SPEAKER_09I was gonna say, hey, don't be don't be bad mouthing Kansas, alright? Kansas is great, but I would never do that too. Oh yeah. We would never do that to Kansas. Thank you, thank you. Uh my our friends from the Missouri side of the border would not agree with that, but uh back to the uh back in it. So you guys look around and it again, familiar skyscrapers, familiar uh landscape. You guys are in the park. In the Metro Park Virgil, the first thing you notice is of course the ducks. Quacking past you in this green watered park.
SPEAKER_00The ducks are real. Sorry, I jumped the gun. We're in the park, and the the ducks here are real, like they're not they're not wind up, they're not they're not mechanical, they're they're real.
SPEAKER_03Oh my god.
SPEAKER_01But that doesn't make any sense. No, because because all all ducks are clockwork. This can't be right. This is no.
SPEAKER_03What happens if I throw one and then I'm gonna reach down and try to track around?
SPEAKER_09Uh give me give me a quick uh slide of hand or acrobatics.
SPEAKER_03Oh let's see here. Where I and this is of course me not looking at my character sheet. Second Zoria. Uh that's 14.
SPEAKER_0914? Alright, yeah. You you reach over there and you're able to grab it as its wings begin to flap. Feathers kind of start flying a little bit in your face as you pick it up. Um I'm assuming you're trying to throw it.
SPEAKER_03I'm gonna throw it at whoever's standing nearest to me.
SPEAKER_01I think that's me.
SPEAKER_09Yeah. You throw it as Virgil. Virgil, it it flaps in your face. It's it's uh little webbed feet uh stepping on your face as the feathers begin flying around you and oh my god, you know what? I spit up.
SPEAKER_03Now we know for sure.
SPEAKER_01Yes, it's real. Glad you could share that with the class. That's crazy. I've never seen a real duck before.
SPEAKER_00I wasn't expecting to see one.
SPEAKER_03I mean the city news is we can never really go hungry now.
SPEAKER_07We can eat the ducks, yeah.
SPEAKER_10Hold up. Okay, guys, hold on a second. We don't need to go to eating the ducks, alright? Let's get our bearings first as to where we are because Oh, yes, bearings.
SPEAKER_07Okay, well, we're in the city. Uh the metro park. Uh the water's green. Uh what color is the sky? Look up at the sky. What color is the sky? Normal color, too. Oh, I know this one. Sky is like a baby blue. Oh, okay, cool. It it remains blue. That's familiar. Alright.
SPEAKER_09Alright. Uh beautiful sky, too. There's just a little bit of cloud cover that that kind of covers up the sun for you guys and then passes by. You uh hear children playing off in the park. And but you guys then also hear.
SPEAKER_08Hey you! Get out of the pond. There's no swimming in the pond. Oh.
SPEAKER_00Oh, uh look down waist water in like waist deep in the pond.
SPEAKER_01Like, oh uh, sorry.
SPEAKER_09I just you guys, you see this human guard that seems to be wearing uh this very tall uh cap with the star on the front of it and this really short bill and wearing a like a blue officer's uniform. Get out of there. Okay.
SPEAKER_13I'm working on it. Sorry, officer.
SPEAKER_10Yeah. That's also weird. Why why is excuse me, sir? Are you a a guard of the city? As as I pull myself out of the water.
SPEAKER_08I mean, of course I wouldn't be wearing my uniform if I wasn't.
SPEAKER_02Are you here to arrest us?
SPEAKER_08No. Thank you. Get out of the pond. Yeah, it can be done.
SPEAKER_09Not here, though. Kind of looks at you guys. Um, let me let me quickly roll a quick dice one. We're felons.

SPEAKER_01Sylvia, I go to the virtual, and I'm like, like, I have never seen her. She is freaking out. Blender knows what to do. Blender knows exactly what to do for this kind of stuff. I am clueless. You have to help me figure this out. I have to help you figure this out. I have to figure out what we're doing here because apparently you two are off doing your own theater, music, song, and dance thing, and I have to sit here and figure things out because you two are in the fantasy freakout.
SPEAKER_12Where are you?
SPEAKER_01Look at me. We are in the fantasy freak out land together. Whether we like it or not, we both we all three ended up here without our friends. Oh, I don't like it. I don't like it one bit.
SPEAKER_03I don't like making new connections with new people.
SPEAKER_01You're right, Sylvia. It's hard, it's difficult, it's not easy. We all like the comfort of our pre-established connections. Which is why it's very upsetting that we're here right now. Michael's right.
SPEAKER_00He's right. I Look, this is just very weird because clearly the city does not have it's it's mostly warforged and automatons, and there's clearly there's living people in the guard, which is very strange because uh that has not been a thing for quite some time. There there's uh ducks in the park that are not wind-up ducks, which again, there was some sort of cataclysmic event that made it to where they took out all the animals in this city, so why are there animals in the city?
SPEAKER_03So that means no cataclysmic event.
SPEAKER_01That means no. What is that?
SPEAKER_00Are you Did we did No, it couldn't. It couldn't possibly be it. I mean, okay, we have to we have to consider our options. Either one, we've maybe gone back in time, which would be an interesting thought, or two, we are in a completely alternate dimension of some kind, or three, we are hallucinating terribly, and people are watching us be very, very strange in the middle of the park.
SPEAKER_03We've been being very normal in the middle of the park. I don't know what you mean.
SPEAKER_09stroking his chin trying to figure out She said she said they're felons, but they seem a bit more weird than criminally.
SPEAKER_02Oh, um, uh see, I misspoke when I said felons. Uh that's the name of our theater collective.
SPEAKER_03We are the felons because our acting is downright criminal.
SPEAKER_02Now hear me, guard.
SPEAKER_09That's fire. That's fire.
SPEAKER_02Guard man. Um, what year is it?
SPEAKER_07It's our suggestion we need.

SPEAKER_00It's the same year, so so we didn't go back and uh we should probably not be talking about this in front of a bunch of people, and uh we should find somewhere more private, I think. SPEAKER_03Uh we will be on our doing improv.

SPEAKER_07Playing a new game of the improv, or we're actually in the scene. We're doing a scene about the water, and we figured it'd be better if we went into the water to really experience the feeling of the water, you know, to improve our art.
SPEAKER_03Yes, exactly. It's a um it's an environmental scene. And and and for our last uh suggestion, guard, um, could you just point to the nearest automaton andor robot?
SPEAKER_08You're saying a lot of words, I don't know what they are. Um what is an improv? An automaton? Robots?
SPEAKER_00Um like uh metal men, metal moving beings.
SPEAKER_02It's the magic of theater when one takes the first thought in your head and extrapolates it, it makes everyone suffer through it.
SPEAKER_00I'm suffering right now.
SPEAKER_08Well, just stay out of the pond.

SPEAKER_09He walks back to the He walks back to the sidewalk, directly to the sidewalk, and then starts walking along the right side.

SPEAKER_01Sylvia, we're following a guard. Like that he's literally.

SPEAKER_03I'm gonna start walking like cautiously, sheepishly behind the guard, like very acting like I'm uh a bad extra in a movie, trying to act like I'm heading to the store or something. I'm just tailing him.
SPEAKER_07I'm gonna fall behind.
SPEAKER_09I think I'm getting too much as an extra in the back.
SPEAKER_03Yes, and it's mine work.
SPEAKER_09Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_07Um I'll lead back to Virgil because like honestly, this is just a direction to go. We can go to a bar after.
SPEAKER_01I need something to help figure out what what the heck is happening. We gotta, we gotta talk about this.
SPEAKER_00Me too. I need a drink. A really big one.
SPEAKER_09So let's go this way and I go back to following Sylvia. So you guys head down the sidewalk following this guard. Interesting. I mean the this the Metro Park looks just as you had seen not a day ago. The trees growing lushly, the pond, even though it's this greenish color, uh, is sitting there still as can be, clean as can be, other than the color, honestly. Uh but there's a few well, roll me some insight checks.
SPEAKER_10Alright, a roll, let's go.
SPEAKER_03One immediately.
SPEAKER_10Oh, I'm so worried.
SPEAKER_03I'm not gonna lie.
SPEAKER_09You are in your character. That is that is a 13 for me. Uh 19. Alright. Oh, wait, hold on. I uh uh I feel like last I didn't write it down, but I feel like last session I I said I I had proficiency and insight. Am I correct on that or no? Uh you had said you were proficient. I mean, if you want, you can definitely use one of yours for your skills for that. Yeah. You had done athletics while you were while that ravine, that fissure was opening up. And I don't remember another one, but I mean, yeah, I mean, if you're wanting to do insight, you could definitely do that. Why not? Let's do it. So we'll say um 11.
SPEAKER_10So that'll be a 15 instead.
SPEAKER_09Alright. So, Sylvia, you are walking this sidewalk perfectly. You know? Walking it perfectly, nose up, you know, doing your your little your little uh your little cues, extra cues, just kind of waving off to the side, but not actually like looking where you were at. You're just kind of in your zone. You're in the zone. Michael and Virgil, you guys see some odd things. You see a lot of people that are here in the park just, you know, sitting around, eating. But Michael, you're you're seeing there's a rhythm to everything everyone's doing. You start to notice everyone's almost walking to this wit rhythm. Everyone's people that are eating on a park bench set on a patch of concrete, seem to be putting up food to their mouths, eating and chewing to a rhythm. And the guard here is you guys just kind of follow him. He walks to a corner, takes a sharp turn, turns right, and he seems to be walking extremely rigid.
SPEAKER_07I can't get heads or tails.
SPEAKER_09Everyone seems extremely rigid.
SPEAKER_03That's the rhythm of a city, huh, boys?
SPEAKER_01I'm gonna try to match the rhythm, I guess. I Oh my god.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I am too.
SPEAKER_09I'm not. Virgil's just going his own way. Alright. The guard doesn't seem to be really doing anything of too much. What is it? He's not doing anything special. He seems to just be doing laps around the park. Laps around his patrol. Do I see any back towards you guys?
SPEAKER_07Great. Do I see any kind of like I want to find like a dive bar that will not like seem to mind a couple of weirdos are walking into it. Like, like a inconspicuous, like, like not a touristy spot. Um we'll do because it is this this place is the Your Guys' uh home, your guys' city, is uh kind of more of an industrial based city. It's I mean that's that's how that's what it was founded on. Industry, the clockwork that built the the city itself, grew the industry, grew, helped grow the city. And so uh mostly brick and mortar places, it's a little bit was a little bit, you know, a little bit grungy, but still a good clean, like a like a really nice, really nice downtown area, kinda was the your guys' home metro. Just really nice industrial, fixed up industrial downtown area. As you guys are driving through here, you see mostly steel and glass buildings. You see uh these skyscrapers, this what what was the the tall uh clock tower looks to be this skyscraper with just windows, this like office skyscraper over here. You see the uh streets and sidewalks, just pristinely clean asphalt, no potholes anywhere. And it's again, it feels like your city, but with this odd skin and blanket thrown over it. Um but there are a few minor differences. You see an old uh convenience store that looks to be a gas station set up to your guys' left, where was a mechanics shop uh where people would take their clockworks to go get fixed and worked on and stuff like that. Um you see a uh nice what was once a park, uh now this parking lot. Um a smaller park looks to be this parking lot. Uh so there are a few little differences within this city. So um if you guys could, as a group, uh DC's going to be 12, roll me a some sort of a pathfinding check. You guys can of course use whatever skills you guys have, um and we will just really need um we'll basically do you need two successes to kind of get this uh get this going. I got a 17. Okay. SPEAKER_00I just I have that intuition, uh, you know. Um I'm in fact I think I'm gonna roll for kind of my survival instincts, being kind of jumping into unfamiliar territory and and pushing through seems to be my okay, my specialty.

Uh uh for the um uh and kind of curving into this patio space over on the side, which um was a rooftop bar. It's this all kind of seems familiar to you, Michael, but of course, it was a two-story building before. Now it seemed to be just this one-story um diner-esque bar. This is peculiar. Heading inside, uh, you guys kind of see the the Michael. It's a similar layout to the clockwork drum as many other things. Uh, you see the bar in front of you. There looks to be a bartender that's kind of sitting sitting there. There are these benches kind of laid out again these uh nice fluffy benches with these um is this teal colored seats and the pipes, the uh stalks of these uh uh stools are are chrome, and you see kind of benches, bench seats kind of laying all around or laid out all along the sides of this bar. Uh a few little uh square tables set in the center, uh and there's a few patrons. There's there's kind of two that are that are sitting upright uh up at the bar, seems to be having uh some drinks. There are about three. They look to be alone as they're about three stools away from each other, and there's a few people that look to be sitting in these benches.
SPEAKER_07There are any booths, or are they the benches on the box? Yes, sorry, booths. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. We're gonna we're gonna go take a booth because I don't see the sign that says uh please wait to be seated, so I'm gonna go straight in and sit in a booth.

SPEAKER_09A uh young well no, actually an older Orcish woman with uh this this this graying hair, but uh you can see as it's kind of this dusty silver, as if she she had this really dark, thick black hair before.

It's cursive. As like you wrote write a whole word in the same place uh kind of look to it. Uh and it looks like this this menu is just like a small little pamphlet. Um, probably about the size of a note card. Oh probably probably a little bit larger than a note card, probably like a trifold, a small little trifold. Um and it looks like there's quite a few options here on the front side. The back side is blank, but it looks like it's some sort of efficient way of writing that that allows them to get everything upon this this smaller menu.

Virg Michael, as you back away from the door, you can see uh as kind of the the door handle looks to be starting to glow red as uh which bolt you continue holding it um as it looks to begin to start heating the handle and starting to uh heat it up. Virgil, you begin to hear sirens off in the distance. Okay.

What is uh because which bolt is something that you you hold your concentration on the spell and it basically stays um stays connected to whoever your target is for consistent terms as long as you have concentration.
SPEAKER_03If you're familiar with like uh Fossey kind of hips, like a la Chicago, I think I'm doing like a like a ooh, like a full jazz sort of hip number with my hands nice and low, and I'm really aiming those beams of uh heat and lightning at the hinges of the door and the doorknob.

Uh, you guys can see the sirens of these cops that are going about 30 miles an hour um towards your guys' location down 17th Street. Um yeah, sure. I'm in.

Um, so at least two of the three you guys on each phase will need to succeed, and as you succeed, you guys will gain, get further away from these uh pursuing cops. But as you fail, they will get closer to you. Uh, three group failures or two group successes on this. Um, so as you guys begin uh to run, uh what is it you guys want to do?
SPEAKER_07I want to try to lead us down some uh dip through some alleyways that I know that like like kind of kind of shortcut ways to get us through because uh it's for hopefully for them to lose us.
SPEAKER_09Heck yeah, yeah. Um yeah, and so everyone will uh so basically on each phase everyone will roll. So Vince or Michael's going to be uh kind of uh leading the path on this. I mean, you guys can of course uh do like just straight athletics checks, you just wouldn't be able to do it on the subsequent turn, or you guys can do uh use your spell skills, just creative stuff, cause distractions, all that stuff to kind of help give you guys some space between yourselves and the slowly pursuing police.
SPEAKER_01Um I I want to use the survival for the flavor of I've lived in the streets for a minute, though ranger though I am, I've mostly been in the city, and I I am trying to just use my know-how of how to use these back alleyways to avoid being found.

You know, you know these back alleys, and these back alleys still are just as familiar as you remember. You cut in through all these um all these alleys, and um you get you you're able to get away scot-free, um, out of the range of the sirens. Um it doesn't even seem like they've gotten they had gotten to the diner before you guys had gotten away. Um and uh yeah, in these uh back alleys and back streets. Um let me think. SPEAKER_09Uh as you hear this meow distort and twist as as it does, you see as it uh almost look as if it's glitching. You see its head and eyes almost look like they desync and fissure out from each other um as this thing kind of sits on this uh on this trash bin. And uh as it does, you guys kind of just see this shimmering and your vision almost goes blurry where this cat is sitting, as you can kind of see as it's meowing in pain. Oh as you can almost you see as it I can't look away, it it it splits. Um and whatever this happening to this cat also happened is happening to the trash bin underneath it. Um as as you begin to see double. It looks almost like uh there's two images of this cat, two of these cats almost uh um shaking between each other, glitching between each other. Um, and then you see three, three cats uh beginning to to shake between each other. You see as the the trash bin begins to shake and begins to distort as this cat and this trash bin begin to ship and change. You see these sweet potatoes begin to fall out of this trash bin and get begin glitching into uh these now three cats here and growing, growing, growing, as by the time it's done, you see these mad amalgamations of these large black cats with with trash bin lids on their heads. Um you see as they um look to have their paws and and toe beans look to be um look to be s made of sweet potatoes and their claws, but their claws are sharp. These claws are metal, their teeth are metal as they're looking at you guys and they are roaring now, no longer a meow, a roar. Um, I'm gonna need you guys to roll me initiative against these three uh sweet potato trash cats. Um guys, what the fuck is that?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that's uh that's a um it's special effects. Initiative. What do I do if I roll a negative one?

SPEAKER_01Yeah, when you made your character, you really uh It wasn't up to me, Vincent. Alright.
SPEAKER_09It was the dice. The dice. I remember somebody not using their reroll, but hey, that's it's true. So uh we will be using some modified combat rules for uh uh DD 5th edition. Uh so rather than action, uh bonus action, movement, reactions, and all that stuff like that, uh, each character is going to have four action points. Actions cost two AP, bonus actions, movement, and reactions cost one AP. They can only do um bonus actions, a specific bonus action once per turn, uh, and then they can um use as many reactions, as many actions as they really want to, as long as they still have action points on their turn or before their turn comes up. They regain those action points at the end of their turn to where they can then do reactions and such like that. Um there will be no spell slot restrictions for spell slots per turn, so you know. People can go a little bit NOVA if they want. Um, and then we do have two uh two other fun new mechanics, including declared reactions and spell dueling. Spell dueling we'll get to whenever you guys are really going against casters. But declared reactions is if you you can declare to do a specific action before your next turn. So at the end of your turn, you can declare, hey, if this specific situation, let's say if one of these uh sweet potato trash cats get within five feet of you, Michael, you want to make an attack on your turn. Um, or the moment they get within range, um, you can do that, and if that specific action happened, condition is met, uh, that two AP action actually only costs one action point. So if you declare something that's probably greater than an action, basically it's kind of you holding your action and or not holding any actions, but you're just kind of preparing for it for your next turn. Um But yeah, I mean we'll we'll kind of walk through it. If you guys have questions, we we will get through it. I think it'll once you guys get the hang of it, it will go pretty it'll start going pretty smoothly. Um but I think who was it that ruled the 13? That was me. Virgil. Virgil, you will go first. You're probably about 15 feet away from these uh sweet potato trash cats.

SPEAKER_09Basic, yeah, so uh if you don't use any of your action points by the end of your turn, um basically you just kind of skip your turn uh and you regain your actions at the end of your turn. So you can you can take any actions if you want, yeah. I'll I'll allow you to like hold off uh a free action point. If you want to forego your whole turn, I'll allow you to um do an action as a free reaction.
SPEAKER_00Okay, because I'm thinking I'm gonna wait for one of these guys to lunge at me, and then I'm gonna give a if it comes at me, I'm gonna give him a swift like uh uppercut with some martial arts hoo-ha.
SPEAKER_09Heck yeah.

I I I kind of want them to be attracted to go after me instead of Sylvia or Michael, because I feel like I'm a little more equipped to fight these sweet potatoes. Okay, yeah, okay. Use one action point to move forward, and then all I'll say you're you're just kind of sitting here preparing, and I'll basically let you take a free reaction. Not even a declared reaction, just a free reaction that doesn't use any of your action points on your next from your next turn uh to make an attack if they get within melee range of you.

SPEAKER_09Cool. And that's kind of how declared reactions would work at the end of your turn if you were to have taken your whole turn. So that's kind of a good example of that. Um cool. So you move up, move forward, and you're just kind of like in a readied position. Uh, and the moment you get in this readied position, you hear this distorted, uh, almost glitching cat's meow roar uh that also just sounds like a trash lid smacking against itself. Um uh as all three of them pounce towards you, uh the first one that pounces towards you, uh, you can uh roll that attack.
SPEAKER_00Alright, I'm gonna go ahead and do an unarmed strike with again. I like I don't quite understand the martial arts stuff, but I'm trying to figure it out. Um like I I'm reading it from the link, but I don't I don't quite understand it.

Uh if Sylvia, well, she might have an unarmed attack too, um, were to just try to punch someone, it only deals one damage. You have a die that's connected to your fists and uh feet and knees and forehead, elbows, shoulders, whatever body part you want to use. Virgil is a weapon. Virgil is the weapon. Okay, so you're you're doing an uppercut on the first cat that comes up to you.
SPEAKER_10That is correct. So I'm gonna see if I can hit this sweet potato cat, and that's gonna be A. Ooh, that's a pretty good hit. Let's see. 22.

Uh so as these three uh three metallic cats pounce at you, the first one comes up, you uppercut it as its paws uh come uh around towards you as it's trying to grab at you. You uppercut it, you're able to uh offset the cat enough to where its claws just come right in front of your nose. Uh the second one looks to come becoming a pounce on you. You after that uppercut, you lower your left shoulder and throw that cat over your back as the third one comes up over your shoulder uh and grabs onto you with its two claws and bites onto your shoulder, uh, trying to take you down to the ground, but your fur bulg just stoutness, you're able to catch yourself and um hold your ground here. You were surrounded by these three cats. Michael, it is your turn.

SPEAKER_07Yeah, I'm gonna I look at my uh bite has the strongest attack bonus, and it's the same amount of damage as my sword, so I'm just gonna bite one of them.

SPEAKER_07I was pretty close to Virgil, so he just set in front of us.

As you uh go and bite at this one, you bite at this one's shoulder, not able to get too much grip as your bite also hits the uh the aluminum trash bin there. Um you do at still have two more action points. Uh if you want to take another attack action or something else. I'm really feeling crazy. I want to do another one. I'm a I'm a hell yeah. Do I can I can able to bite again? Do I have to start to break out my way? Yeah, yo. Uh but another bite. Another bite, hell yeah. Bite and mic, bite and mic. Okay, well, that one's not as good. That's a that's a five, that's a ten, which is not as good. It's a ten, unfortunately. Yeah, this second time you try to re-grip and grab back on it, but it shifts its shoulder blades a little bit to where um you just bite into two metal uh shoulder blades here. Um aren't able to catch, uh, get get another attack off, but this thing um this thing's looking hurt, um, but at the end of your turn, you regain your four action points. Oh, I forgot to ask Virgil. Oh wait, no, no. Virgil, you already did your deal. Michael, are are there any declared reactions you'd like to make? Nah. I mean, like, I can't you oh wait. I can now that I have at the end of your turn, you regain action points, and then you can use those as a declared reaction before your next turn.

SPEAKER_03Um, I think Sylvia initially is sort of in a in a state of stunned sort of shock. I think the like the literal uh visual projection design of these cats has probably thrown her off a little bit. Um and I'm curious how smart are these cats?
SPEAKER_09Um they look to it. I mean, when you first saw this cat sitting on the trash bin, um looked like just a normal sweet cat. Um but as it got distorted, this thing looked to have gone feral and um I mean obviously twisted uh with with this trash bin and the the trash that was within it. You said sweet cat. Like now it now it's a sweet potato cat. Yeah, sweet potato cat. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I'm gonna say because I don't think this is a good idea, but I think this is what Sylvia would try to do. So I apologize, everybody. Um I think I'm gonna try to make friends with one of the cats uh using uh animal friendship. Can I do that, please?

Uh like where she where the the glass was that she just put her hand through, just a huge surge of water just comes out of Sylvia's fist towards uh this cat as it does, hitting it on the shoulder, and it looks like it it rolls off of you, Virgil. Um this cat is wet uh and not happy, but you can also see as like this its sweet potato paws kind of soften. Um as this thing looks a little bit um a little bit vulnerable right now. Um so Sylvia the literally yeah it's you see it's picks up its paws as like the the soft sweet potatoes just kind of start mushing a little bit.

How does that work with the uh so that means it's it just means uh for one AP you can make uh a second attack. Oh fun. So you make your normal attack with two AP, and then once per turn you can take uh one specific bonus action per turn, and that would be like your unarmed strike. And the reason we kind of have I have that rule in is so that you can't do four attacks here at level one because you can with your bad hand attack four times with a bonus action. It just unmakes it. But uh, but yeah, you'll be able to you make your attack and then you can make a second attack with your offhand or with the kick.

Um as you kick kick this cat, it goes and it hits the back wall as it looks to like glitch. Um again hitting the wall, um, landing on the ground. Alright.
SPEAKER_01Um and with that, I'm then gonna quickly swing to the cat that's next to me that's like that was really, really low. And do it.

You can start invisible until the start of your next turn or until you attack, make a damage roll or force someone to make a saving throw. Oh, there you go.
SPEAKER_01So I'm you just you see Virgil take a hit and realize he doesn't um it doesn't kill them right away, and like there's two cats next to him, and he's like shit, and he's gonna like um take a step back as basically he just for a second turn like a bunch of leaves surround him and then he's just gone. Like in a whirlwind. Nice.
SPEAKER_09And the leaves settle and Virgil's just gone. Disappears. Hell yeah. Uh uh Virgil just disappears in front of your guys' eyes. Uh as the cats, it is the cat's turn. First thing, the cat right in front of you, Michael, is going to attack you. Um, you could take your declared reaction for one AP and smack that cat. Luckily, I'm so ready. Chomp.
