After a five-year hiatus a cast reunites as The Final Rule returns! Bigger, better, and improvier than ever - The Final Rules manifests now as two simultaneously occurring and, as always, completely improvised campaigns.

Being sent to find a mysterious artifact never ends well, turns out. Virgil (Chase Bernard,) Michael (Vincent Bianca,) and Ssssssylvia (Sophia Brazda) must reckon with a new land where the water tastes like lime and there's only one car on the highway. Worst of all... did any of you remember your wallets?

TFRs: Order is DMed by Justin Haflich.

Please enjoy!

New episodes will be livestreamed on the Arcadian Renaissance Theatre Creatives YouTube channel on the first and third Mondays of the month!

SPEAKER_06

Long ago, in a distant land, far beyond the reaches of common sense, a band of merry adventurers are well, they're doing something, that's for sure. But to be all mystical and shit. Welcome to the final rule, we're saying maybe I think it's a very good idea.

SPEAKER_09

Um, I am Justin Haflick, and I'm your dungeon master, and I am uh I I I also have some lovely uh players here. So uh we'll start at the top left. Sophia.

SPEAKER_14

What's up, guys? Brasda's back.

SPEAKER_09

Heck yeah. And uh yeah, yeah. Uh say who uh say who you guys are playing too for our audio listeners out there.

SPEAKER_03

Love the audio listeners. I'm playing yes. Um I have uh incredible stuff going on. It's probably gonna be the biggest arc since uh breaking bad, sort of what we've been talking about, right? Um private. Um she's got a lot going on. Um, my god. I mean, where to even begin? She's a complex female figure. Um, she's part snake. She is a mime in a past life, she's a warlock, fathomless. So much going on.

SPEAKER_09

All right, beautiful for you guys.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_09

Boy, am I ready. All right, Vincent. Hi, I'm Vincent Bianca.

SPEAKER_07

I play Michael, the lizard folk ranger, who is so not complicated at all, pretty straightforward, uh, minuscule arc. I think he's not gonna learn any lessons at all over the course of our adventure, and he'll remain the same at the end as he was when he started.

SPEAKER_09

Nice. Nice. As reptilian at the end is how he starts. Maybe we'll change that. Maybe, maybe, uh, maybe Sophia will be able to, you know, get underneath those scales and try to make you open up.

SPEAKER_14

I love a static character, not static.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, he'll try so hard. That's what the theater collective is all about, right? Absolutely.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, that's our motto. Static, not static.

SPEAKER_04

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_00

And Chase? Alright, hello everyone. My name is Chase Bernard, and I will be playing Virgil, the Furbog monk, our uh our character that's not in the theater collective, that has been split away from his only friend and will now have to deal with the turmoil that is ensued.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I'm uh yeah, we'll we'll we'll see kind of how that uh that all turns out. Uh, because you're not too happy with uh well everyone. Not at all. I would even say including your your your one friend Typhus.

SPEAKER_00

Including typhus. I don't I don't know, Virgil.

SPEAKER_14

Friend is a really flowery term, uh barnacle, parasitic relationship.

SPEAKER_09

It it he really tags along. It's more of like uh, okay, well, he's here. I might as well just uh just let him be along for the ride.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

More cousin energy than friend energy for sure.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Acquaintances, maybe.

SPEAKER_09

Uh yeah, so um, and uh this is the only crew we have, as uh we are now after that first session splitting up into two campaigns.

SPEAKER_11

What?

SPEAKER_09

We are the final rule order campaign, and then there is the second one that'll be airing in uh live streaming here in two weeks. That will be the chaos campaign. So uh we are uh we're super excited to see how that one turns out as well. Yeah, um but uh yeah, our boring party? Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. I mean, it's a fair question.

SPEAKER_02

We were all thinking it, right?

SPEAKER_01

Like shocks, like well, I mean not even hot couldn't be us.

SPEAKER_14

No, I just want to make sure.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, no, we're we're not team, right? Everyone in the chat is going team chaos for life and what uh well that seems like team is a go first, right? Yeah, team is a go first. Yeah, exactly. Exactly. We're the better team.

SPEAKER_03

Doesn't like the smaller team normally open for the bigger team at like oh yikes.

SPEAKER_09

Whoa, whoa. That's so stressful.

SPEAKER_00

Don't worry, guys. Maybe we can turn it around by uh inserting a musical number somewhere in the first session. Boy, okay, we'll do it.

SPEAKER_09

Right, we'll figure it out. We'll find out for that. Um but uh let me think. Um, yeah, so if you guys have um well, I guess the first thing here I would probably say is if you guys want to donate, of course, we have our uh uh link down or a QR code down there to our PayPal. Um it goes to the uh well, I'll let uh Chase uh kind of explain all that.

SPEAKER_00

He's a bit more uh Oh my goodness, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

As president of the Arcadian Renaissance Theater Creatives, the nonprofit theater that is helping host the Final Rule, um your donations go to a nonprofit theater company. And what does it do? It helps us pay our lovely artists that work with us and make these wonderful shows, like the Final Rules, like the Creative Showcase, like all the other cool things that we have in store. Um so if you donate to us, it is yeah, I'm explaining it. I know. I'm um so uh basically we you'll you know it'll be a tax write-off, which is awesome. You'll also be supporting artists because our goal is to pay our artists.

SPEAKER_09

That is like our first big goal is to be able to pay our artists something at least. So you would be helping in that.

SPEAKER_01

Also, if you donate, like I'm gonna be honest, if you donate anything to us, you'll give us a fake coin. And what what that will do is basically that lets us have a chance to re-roll our terrible roles. But if we use a fake coin, that means that Justin gets to basically pull a suggestion that then can royally screw the person that used the fake coin over. Make things more interesting, you know, change things up like a bit of wild magic.

SPEAKER_08

Yes, beautiful, beautiful. Tools for destruction, my favorite.

SPEAKER_01

Um, so uh and eventually that will be automated, but we'll just have to check and see if people are donating at this at this point. Depositing your pay no Logan, no. Don't deposit your paycheck.

SPEAKER_10

Um, but anyways, that's enough of this spiel. I think we can we I think we should get on to the the the fun stuff.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, yeah. Uh for sure. Uh oh, uh, and subscribe if you want to keep up with in the us in the future. Uh but anyways, um, yeah, let's pull from the bucket. We're gonna start this one with a uh pull from the bucket and see where we're going.

SPEAKER_01

Um do you think you're able to do that? You go in the spoiler chat on our Discord and pull from our lovely bot through all the many wonderful uh viewer suggestions that we have cultivated.

SPEAKER_09

In the spoiler or in the bucket?

SPEAKER_01

Uh do spoiler chat because you want to pull there, because if you pull in the bucket, I think the bot will get confused and try to make that the suggestion.

SPEAKER_00

That would be very weird.

SPEAKER_07

Read a suggestion. It reads its own commands for a suggestion.

SPEAKER_10

Uh I don't know the command for that.

SPEAKER_01

I can do worst case, I can do it. Um I need to give probably give you that uh anything. It's slash pull underscore suggestions.

SPEAKER_09

Uh you could you could try to do it. Okay, there it is. Let me try it. Give it a shot. Oh my god, you did it. Alright. So, um, of course, like any uh any sort of improv show, we pull suggestions out of our Discord in the bucket. We have a bucket, and so if you have suggestions, please go to our Discord and enter in there. What our bucket is pulled today is our suggestion is three, not one, not two, but three cats. You can't forget the question mark exclamation point. Um but three cats is gonna be our suggestion, and that is kind of where we will go. Uh, but first, let's do a quick little recap. A lot of stuff happened last session, yeah. Uh, where the whole party was uh together. Uh Virgil, you, and Typhus were hanging out in the park playing with some ducks when there were some ruffians behind you guys uh playing in the bushes. You guys confronted them for defacing the bushes, and Sylvia decided to throw a one of the clockwork ducks at a guard's head. Uh, you guys ended up getting arrested, taken to jail, meeting Mr. Gruyere, uh, the famous Mr. Gruyere from the Billboards, and then you guys were pulled into an interrogation where you guys were asked for an artifact. Come to find out that Arnold had access to this artifact that he had sold to put his security deposit down for your guys's uh to move into your guys' um uh joined apartments and uh blamed it all on Virgil. Uh basically said he sold it to Virgil. Come to find out it was another fur bulg that was sold to after selling it to his cousin. You guys venture out to where those uh two fur bulgs were traveling across out of the metro city uh into a barren desert, uh dried, cracked ground as you guys were traveling across it. A huge shoot. I was having trouble last time explaining what it is. Fissure, thank you. Wow, you're welcome anytime. Thank you. Uh Fissure opens up behind you guys. You guys run. Virgil almost falls in, but is able to uh you know get up, uh grabbing your oh man, what was what was the uh what was the clockworks name that you guys have? It was started with a D. Defer? Defer, yes, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

But it was a Halbert 44 unit.

SPEAKER_09

Halbert 44 unit, yes, yes. A halberd 44 unit that you guys called Deefer. You were able to pull yourself up there. Michael was able to uh save his friend Arnold, declaring he he owes Arnold more than what ever that was. So I I don't know what that that all is. We'll we'll see. Uh, and then Sylvia getting unfortunately rejected by some deity uh before you know finding that inner drive to push through. Uh, but you guys made it to the little house that um Gurgil and Dirgil, deferable cousins, uh were at. They tried to swindle you guys, you guys were able to convince them to take you guys to the artifact, which looks looked to have been under the ground, but as you guys jumped off the cave, went into this door, entered a normal-looking residential home, you opened another door that seemingly underground, and you are in the suburbs. The suburbs that everyone knows about, knows they were there, but doesn't and knew that they fell into hell, uh, but are unable to tell, you were unable to know what they look like, perhaps who was there. Um but as you go into here, you guys feel safe. You guys felt safe and comfortable. As Gurgil and Dirgil takes you to another home in the backyard in the garden, you guys meet Arnold's cousin, who is Muffins, not Mittens. Mizin Mittens is is the other cousin, the little guy, and Muffins offered you guys that you guys could um if you guys could figure out how to put this artifact together, you guys can have it by uh figuring out the mage IKEA's instructions to uh put this artifact together. Typhus, unfortunately, the last time Virgil, you saw Typhus, he went unconscious, and then you guys look to be like being consumed, becoming like more than what he was. But as that happened and this this artifact comes uh into form, turning into this sliding door, uh sliding back and forth, um, you guys all black out. And as you all begin to gain consciousness back. You hear wind howling winds brushing past your ears. Uh I guess I guess Virgil has hair. I was about to say all your guys' hair, but two of you guys are reptilians.

SPEAKER_11

I don't know. I mean I guess you guys can't have hair.

SPEAKER_09

But uh, Virgil, you you feel this air air rushing past you guys, uh and as you guys open your eyes, uh seeing this speckled green liquid that you guys seem to be floating in, flying through uh at speeds you've never gone before. Through liquid that you can feel this this liquid going past your skin through your body But at speeds that you shouldn't be traveling under liquid.

SPEAKER_10

Guys, can anyone hear me? What's going on?

SPEAKER_02

You guys hear one, two, one, two Mike Jack one two one two What is going on?

SPEAKER_09

This uh this eardrum beating sound of just the wind uh waves in your ears and uh you guys hear again. You I see you I see you as you guys swirling up, you guys come up out of this liquid, splashing out and seeing this blue sky as you guys fly up splash back into this this uh green water some of it got in my mouth It's lime flavored It is lime flavored, what the hell?

SPEAKER_03

Does anyone else have clumps lumps and clumps of of viscous solid in the back of the throat?

SPEAKER_09

Oh yeah, it's there's any city.

SPEAKER_03

Wow, it's Cleveland Cleveland. It was a a a made-up little city I I once wrote a fanfiction about when I was deep into in in the wicked Wizard of Oz fandom about ten years ago. God, it's beautiful. It's the Kansas of the North.

SPEAKER_01

Kansas What are you talking about? We're literally in Cleveland, like the a fan fiction city? What gives you that idea?

SPEAKER_03

It's giving Cleveland vibes.

SPEAKER_10

Oh okay.

SPEAKER_07

Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_10

I was about to say, I'll believe anything at this point.

SPEAKER_03

Oh god And my guy, Kansas is a band, so don't get that right, right.

SPEAKER_09

I was gonna say, hey, don't be don't be bad mouthing Kansas, alright? Kansas is great, but I would never do that too. Oh yeah. We would never do that to Kansas. Thank you, thank you. Uh my our friends from the Missouri side of the border would not agree with that, but uh back to the uh back in it. So you guys look around and it again, familiar skyscrapers, familiar uh landscape. You guys are in the park. In the Metro Park Virgil, the first thing you notice is of course the ducks. Quacking past you in this green watered park.

SPEAKER_00

The ducks are real. Sorry, I jumped the gun. We're in the park, and the the ducks here are real, like they're not they're not wind up, they're not they're not mechanical, they're they're real.

SPEAKER_03

Oh my god.

SPEAKER_01

But that doesn't make any sense. No, because because all all ducks are clockwork. This can't be right. This is no.

SPEAKER_03

What happens if I throw one and then I'm gonna reach down and try to track around?

SPEAKER_09

Uh give me give me a quick uh slide of hand or acrobatics.

SPEAKER_03

Oh let's see here. Where I and this is of course me not looking at my character sheet. Second Zoria. Uh that's 14.

SPEAKER_09

14? Alright, yeah. You you reach over there and you're able to grab it as its wings begin to flap. Feathers kind of start flying a little bit in your face as you pick it up. Um I'm assuming you're trying to throw it.

SPEAKER_03

I'm gonna throw it at whoever's standing nearest to me.

SPEAKER_01

I think that's me.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah. You throw it as Virgil. Virgil, it it flaps in your face. It's it's uh little webbed feet uh stepping on your face as the feathers begin flying around you and oh my god, you know what? I spit up.

SPEAKER_03

Now we know for sure.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, it's real. Glad you could share that with the class. That's crazy. I've never seen a real duck before.

SPEAKER_00

I wasn't expecting to see one.

SPEAKER_03

I mean the city news is we can never really go hungry now.

SPEAKER_07

We can eat the ducks, yeah.

SPEAKER_10

Hold up. Okay, guys, hold on a second. We don't need to go to eating the ducks, alright? Let's get our bearings first as to where we are because Oh, yes, bearings.

SPEAKER_07

Okay, well, we're in the city. Uh the metro park. Uh the water's green. Uh what color is the sky? Look up at the sky. What color is the sky? Normal color, too. Oh, I know this one. Sky is like a baby blue. Oh, okay, cool. It it remains blue. That's familiar. Alright.

SPEAKER_09

Alright. Uh beautiful sky, too. There's just a little bit of cloud cover that that kind of covers up the sun for you guys and then passes by. You uh hear children playing off in the park. And but you guys then also hear.

SPEAKER_08

Hey you! Get out of the pond. There's no swimming in the pond. Oh.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, uh look down waist water in like waist deep in the pond.

SPEAKER_01

Like, oh uh, sorry.

SPEAKER_09

I just you guys, you see this human guard that seems to be wearing uh this very tall uh cap with the star on the front of it and this really short bill and wearing a like a blue officer's uniform. Get out of there. Okay.

SPEAKER_13

I'm working on it. Sorry, officer.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah. That's also weird. Why why is excuse me, sir? Are you a a guard of the city? As as I pull myself out of the water.

SPEAKER_08

I mean, of course I wouldn't be wearing my uniform if I wasn't.

SPEAKER_02

Are you here to arrest us?

SPEAKER_08

No. Thank you. Get out of the pond. Yeah, it can be done.

SPEAKER_09

Not here, though. Kind of looks at you guys. Um, let me let me quickly roll a quick dice one. We're felons.

unknown

Oh.

SPEAKER_10

Great.

SPEAKER_07

Um, emotionally.

SPEAKER_12

Umsa felon. Always a felon.

SPEAKER_07

A felon. What are you doing? Get in on this.

SPEAKER_03

We're snapping now.

SPEAKER_00

I think I'm good, guys. I don't I don't sing.

SPEAKER_02

But you sure do rap. Hit it!

SPEAKER_00

What uh rub rubber ducks in the pond and alive with the feathers, and I am very concerned. Why am I rapping with you guys?

SPEAKER_03

We're still making a new theater collective because I don't know who I am without my collective. Oh my god. And I sort of go off and I'm I'm having a full breakdown.

SPEAKER_01

Sylvia, I go to the virtual, and I'm like, like, I have never seen her. She is freaking out. Blender knows what to do. Blender knows exactly what to do for this kind of stuff. I am clueless. You have to help me figure this out. I have to help you figure this out. I have to figure out what we're doing here because apparently you two are off doing your own theater, music, song, and dance thing, and I have to sit here and figure things out because you two are in the fantasy freakout.

SPEAKER_12

Where are you?

SPEAKER_01

Look at me. We are in the fantasy freak out land together. Whether we like it or not, we both we all three ended up here without our friends. Oh, I don't like it. I don't like it one bit.

SPEAKER_03

I don't like making new connections with new people.

SPEAKER_01

You're right, Sylvia. It's hard, it's difficult, it's not easy. We all like the comfort of our pre-established connections. Which is why it's very upsetting that we're here right now. Michael's right.

SPEAKER_00

He's right. I Look, this is just very weird because clearly the city does not have it's it's mostly warforged and automatons, and there's clearly there's living people in the guard, which is very strange because uh that has not been a thing for quite some time. There there's uh ducks in the park that are not wind-up ducks, which again, there was some sort of cataclysmic event that made it to where they took out all the animals in this city, so why are there animals in the city?

SPEAKER_03

So that means no cataclysmic event.

SPEAKER_01

That means no. What is that?

SPEAKER_00

Are you Did we did No, it couldn't. It couldn't possibly be it. I mean, okay, we have to we have to consider our options. Either one, we've maybe gone back in time, which would be an interesting thought, or two, we are in a completely alternate dimension of some kind, or three, we are hallucinating terribly, and people are watching us be very, very strange in the middle of the park.

SPEAKER_03

We've been being very normal in the middle of the park. I don't know what you mean.

SPEAKER_09

stroking his chin trying to figure out She said she said they're felons, but they seem a bit more weird than criminally.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, um, uh see, I misspoke when I said felons. Uh that's the name of our theater collective.

SPEAKER_03

We are the felons because our acting is downright criminal.

SPEAKER_02

Now hear me, guard.

SPEAKER_09

That's fire. That's fire.

SPEAKER_02

Guard man. Um, what year is it?

SPEAKER_07

It's our suggestion we need.

SPEAKER_01

Sorry, what oh sorry, I did I Sorry, what year is it?

SPEAKER_07

Yes, yes. Give me a year. This year. This year actually.

SPEAKER_08

This year? Yes. I mean it's uh 2416.

SPEAKER_03

Damn it, I don't know what year it was. Fuck. Oh, that's so unhelpful.

SPEAKER_09

It was uh it was 2416. Oh, that's great.

SPEAKER_00

It's the same year, so so we didn't go back and uh we should probably not be talking about this in front of a bunch of people, and uh we should find somewhere more private, I think. Guard, thank you so much for your help. You've been absolutely amazing. Thank you for telling us the year. Um we fell into the pond a little hard.

SPEAKER_03

Uh we will be on our doing improv.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, we are doing improv.

SPEAKER_07

Playing a new game of the improv, or we're actually in the scene. We're doing a scene about the water, and we figured it'd be better if we went into the water to really experience the feeling of the water, you know, to improve our art.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, exactly. It's a um it's an environmental scene. And and and for our last uh suggestion, guard, um, could you just point to the nearest automaton andor robot?

SPEAKER_08

You're saying a lot of words, I don't know what they are. Um what is an improv? An automaton? Robots?

SPEAKER_00

Um like uh metal men, metal moving beings.

SPEAKER_02

It's the magic of theater when one takes the first thought in your head and extrapolates it, it makes everyone suffer through it.

SPEAKER_00

I'm suffering right now.

SPEAKER_08

Well, just stay out of the pond.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, thank you.

unknown

Thank you.

SPEAKER_08

Thank you. Move along.

SPEAKER_03

We're clearly at a moment.

SPEAKER_09

He walks back to the He walks back to the sidewalk, directly to the sidewalk, and then starts walking along the right side.

SPEAKER_00

Alright, we we need to get our baseball.

SPEAKER_08

On the sidewalk, off the grass. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Sure.

SPEAKER_00

Alright, I'm on the sidewalk.

SPEAKER_02

Me too. Maybe we should tail him.

SPEAKER_01

What? Why?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, just to see where he's going. And and I don't know, it seems like he's kind of got the plug and the hoo-how and the whatnot.

SPEAKER_01

Sylvia, we're following a guard. Like that he's literally.

SPEAKER_03

Say my name correctly.

SPEAKER_01

Sylv.

SPEAKER_03

You missed one S. That was five S's.

SPEAKER_01

Sylv. Sylvia.

SPEAKER_03

I'll tell you what, because I think we're friends now, you can just call me Sylvia.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_03

I'm gonna start walking like cautiously, sheepishly behind the guard, like very acting like I'm uh a bad extra in a movie, trying to act like I'm heading to the store or something. I'm just tailing him.

SPEAKER_07

I'm gonna fall behind.

SPEAKER_09

I think I'm getting too much as an extra in the back.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, and it's mine work.

SPEAKER_09

Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_07

Um I'll lead back to Virgil because like honestly, this is just a direction to go. We can go to a bar after.

SPEAKER_01

I need something to help figure out what what the heck is happening. We gotta, we gotta talk about this.

SPEAKER_00

Me too. I need a drink. A really big one.

SPEAKER_09

So let's go this way and I go back to following Sylvia. So you guys head down the sidewalk following this guard. Interesting. I mean the this the Metro Park looks just as you had seen not a day ago. The trees growing lushly, the pond, even though it's this greenish color, uh, is sitting there still as can be, clean as can be, other than the color, honestly. Uh but there's a few well, roll me some insight checks.

SPEAKER_10

Alright, a roll, let's go.

SPEAKER_03

One immediately.

SPEAKER_10

Oh, I'm so worried.

SPEAKER_03

I'm not gonna lie.

SPEAKER_09

You are in your character. That is that is a 13 for me. Uh 19. Alright. Oh, wait, hold on. I uh uh I feel like last I didn't write it down, but I feel like last session I I said I I had proficiency and insight. Am I correct on that or no? Uh you had said you were proficient. I mean, if you want, you can definitely use one of yours for your skills for that. Yeah. You had done athletics while you were while that ravine, that fissure was opening up. And I don't remember another one, but I mean, yeah, I mean, if you're wanting to do insight, you could definitely do that. Why not? Let's do it. So we'll say um 11.

SPEAKER_10

So that'll be a 15 instead.

SPEAKER_09

Alright. So, Sylvia, you are walking this sidewalk perfectly. You know? Walking it perfectly, nose up, you know, doing your your little your little uh your little cues, extra cues, just kind of waving off to the side, but not actually like looking where you were at. You're just kind of in your zone. You're in the zone. Michael and Virgil, you guys see some odd things. You see a lot of people that are here in the park just, you know, sitting around, eating. But Michael, you're you're seeing there's a rhythm to everything everyone's doing. You start to notice everyone's almost walking to this wit rhythm. Everyone's people that are eating on a park bench set on a patch of concrete, seem to be putting up food to their mouths, eating and chewing to a rhythm. And the guard here is you guys just kind of follow him. He walks to a corner, takes a sharp turn, turns right, and he seems to be walking extremely rigid.

SPEAKER_07

I can't get heads or tails.

SPEAKER_09

Everyone seems extremely rigid.

SPEAKER_03

That's the rhythm of a city, huh, boys?

SPEAKER_01

I'm gonna try to match the rhythm, I guess. I Oh my god.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I am too.

SPEAKER_09

I'm not. Virgil's just going his own way. Alright. The guard doesn't seem to be really doing anything of too much. What is it? He's not doing anything special. He seems to just be doing laps around the park. Laps around his patrol. Do I see any back towards you guys?

SPEAKER_07

Great. Do I see any kind of like I want to find like a dive bar that will not like seem to mind a couple of weirdos are walking into it. Like, like a inconspicuous, like, like not a touristy spot. Like, I can't tell on the outside, but I'm like, my ideal is like stains on the ceiling on the inside, like a jukebox that only has like a couple of royalty-free songs. I'm I'm trying to get off the street and try to figure out what's going on.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah. Uh roll me a roll me a well, you can do either because the city does still seem familiar to you. So you could roll me a history check to see if there's one that you remember, or a perception check to spot one that's here near the metro.

SPEAKER_07

I think I would want to do history even though it's a worse like stat. I feel the instinct to try to remember what it is more and roll the correct thing.

SPEAKER_09

Alright, and that's a that's a five, so I don't know. Yeah, I mean, there's a you do know of a bar. It is, of course, on a more rough side of town, but it's definitely something uh a place that I mean you know is not um it's kind of what you're looking for, but it is a little bit shady.

SPEAKER_07

I say we make our way to somewhere where we can sit out of the public eye and just talk about what the heck we think is happening right now.

SPEAKER_01

Sounds like a plan to me.

SPEAKER_07

Cool.

SPEAKER_01

I know anything Sylvia. Come on.

SPEAKER_03

I I just found the rhythm. I'm like, I'm like very trying to like, I've got like my my snapping, and I'm got the tempo thing and the metro meter, and I'm like Well, you can s snap all the way over to the bar over there, alright?

SPEAKER_02

Oh, good idea. Travel.

SPEAKER_09

Oh my god. It's on a sorry. Uh it is on another uh on the other end of town, so it's not here near the metro. Uh the the bar's name is the clockwork drum. Oh, funny.

SPEAKER_01

Oh interesting.

SPEAKER_09

Oh the bar in the old world. Is this what the bar is named in this world too? That's that's the one you remember. I mean you guys will have to head over to the.

SPEAKER_03

I'll never understand why they didn't name it the clockwork porring.

SPEAKER_00

I I don't get it.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, don't worry about it.

SPEAKER_09

Um I am I missing something? What's uh this this this shirt? No, it is that is a complete chat, Justin.

SPEAKER_00

Everyone's talking about Birgil this and Birgil that.

SPEAKER_07

I glance, I get a little confused at what's happening. I'm like, I gotta ignore that.

SPEAKER_00

I gotta I'm I'm gonna be honest. I've met a lot of different Urgils, but Birgil, I've never met a Virgil, not yet.

SPEAKER_09

Interesting. Interesting, interesting. Yeah, you would have thought with the Virgil and the Dirgil, a Birgil would be too far off.

SPEAKER_00

Apparently not.

unknown

Apparently not.

SPEAKER_09

Uh all right, so you guys head over to uh what's what's probably the method of travel you guys would take? I mean, I'm I'm assuming probably the bullet train is is the the method of travel you guys took a lot.

SPEAKER_07

Yes, across the city for sure. Public transit's the key.

SPEAKER_01

Public transit is the key.

SPEAKER_09

You head over to the to where the bullet train is supposed to be, but you just see a highway. Oh no. Uh where's the bullet train?

SPEAKER_03

I'll do what I have to do, and I kind of stick out my my knee and I sort of yank out a thumb. And I'm sort of leaning rather rather suggestively towards the highway.

SPEAKER_09

All right, so my little stuff. Sophia, please. I think I think this is a great time to explain uh your background, Sophia. So uh Sophia, you have a uh you had said the first job you got when you came into town was being a street mime. So Sophia has a street mime background, and what she gets with that is whenever she's communicating using mime, she'll get advantage on that check.

SPEAKER_03

Which never happens in real life for any mime who has ever um but yeah, checks to to to uh show like what you're what you're saying.

SPEAKER_09

How basically it's kind of just saying you're pretty good at miming, you know, you'd be killer at Pictionary. Or maybe not Pictionary Shoot, what is it?

SPEAKER_03

See if I let's go to Rods.

SPEAKER_09

When I Gerards, thank you.

SPEAKER_03

When I yoink out my thumb like this, it immediately signals to every car that I want to get inside that car. It's a old street mime slang.

SPEAKER_00

So hold on. I'm not seeing any cars down this highway, yet it's here.

SPEAKER_10

Uh because for what should be a busy city.

SPEAKER_03

Once there is a car, uh we'll we'll get inside of it.

SPEAKER_09

Uh eventually there is a car, looks to be going about 30 miles an hour down this four-lane highway. Two on each side. But about thirty miles an hour. Uh roll me your uh persuasion or performance check. And of course, uh, if you want to use one of your skill proficiencies for one of those, you can do that. Just make sure you mark that off on your character sheet.

SPEAKER_03

I don't need it. 19. Ooh, ooh, all right. And I flash an ankle.

SPEAKER_09

Ooh, ankle? Oh my goodness. Uh, woo, we Sylvia. And as this well, sorry. Uh, this car kind of pulling up, and as it gets closer, it just seems to be this gray suburban car kind of pulling up. Of course, it's a little bit ways down the road, down the highway, as it's only going 30 miles an hour, but it's very slowly pulls over to the curb, puts on its blinkers, and slows down to you guys. Wow, I didn't know it works.

SPEAKER_03

You see a car, a one car pile up.

SPEAKER_09

You see a young woman sitting in there, young human woman sitting in there, and she is Looking out rolls the window down, pushing the button as it just Oh no, it's a woman driver.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, everyone act like we didn't do any of that shit before. Sylvia, what are you uh we don't we don't want that resume?

SPEAKER_08

But I kind of wanting a ride.

SPEAKER_03

Um hello Sylvia, this is your idea.

SPEAKER_01

Yes.

SPEAKER_09

I I'll lean forward. Yes. Uh we are trying to get to a bar. Have you heard of an is like the clockworth, what again? The clo Clockwork Drum. The clockwork drum.

SPEAKER_07

Hmm.

SPEAKER_09

I haven't heard of a of a bar named that. That's okay, because I could be misremembering it, and it calls it's called something else that's reminiscent of that, perhaps. What's the uh what's the street names that the intersections as it's called?

SPEAKER_07

The crossers of the clockwork drum. Well, it's uh it's at machinery and cog. Machinery happened in cog land.

SPEAKER_10

I love it. So basic.

SPEAKER_00

It was really good uh real estate because those were like two very main highways. Back in the day, there were sessions.

SPEAKER_01

Back in the day, they were like, you know, in industrial areas too, you know. It's one side had a factory that made cogs, and one side had a factory that turned the cogs into machines. So like it was pretty straightforward. They'll hear your letters one day, they'll read your letters, and they will make the same decision that you made, and that it makes more sense, all right? You got I know. They'll listen to you, they'll listen to you, Sylvia.

SPEAKER_03

And then I go up to the car window and I go, ma'am. Woman a woman, snake woman to woman. Part snake, part woman to just a woman. I've had a day. Okay. I lost my best friend, my dearest most artistic collaborator. Sucked out of vortex. And me with two acquaintances. Do you know what that's like? Do you know what that's like on a woman to be with two people she's like kind of comfortable with? It sucks.

SPEAKER_13

It's a ride.

SPEAKER_09

She just looking really confused and a little bit uncomfortable, but kind of uh leans her head to the side and puts gives a little sigh.

SPEAKER_08

Of course. Yeah, so I can give you a ride. Um I I just don't machinery and avenue and cogling, I don't um I can I can take you to I mean if you give me directions, if you can you guys point me the direction of where it's going?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I think I I think we could do that together. Yeah, we could do that. Figure out we all know the lay of the land. Right?

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, yeah, we'll figure we'll figure it out. We'll figure it out. Alright. So you guys all hop in this. It's only a two-door, two-door car. How tall is this car? But you guys can lean the uh the seat forward and two of you crawling in the back. I mean, I think honestly, I think all three of you, Sylvia. You're you you said you were like a six-foot-tall steak lady, right?

SPEAKER_03

Six ten. Oh my.

SPEAKER_09

Her bulks are huge. Uh Lizard folk aren't no small, they aren't a small folk either. But you guys, all three, who's who's taking the front seat?

SPEAKER_13

I will.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, you have the best relationship with this driver, I guess that makes sense.

SPEAKER_09

You got the rapport. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, we got two woman drivers.

SPEAKER_09

Snake, snake, woman to woman. I feel like you would be put the most at ease.

SPEAKER_03

Totally.

SPEAKER_09

Uh, she kind of sits there keeping her her two hands at 10 and 2. And as you guys crawl back, Virgil, you like you're you have to pretty much hug your knees. Knees to chest. Knees to chest as you're sitting in this car. Uh I have to like pull, I have to like, is there a window back there that I can actually pull up and down? No, it's just one of those triangular windows that that you can barely look out of. My head is like cocked sideways. I'm like, my ear is basically like almost perpendicular like uh parallel to the ceiling. I'm like, please just make this quick.

SPEAKER_03

Virgil, stop kicking my seat.

SPEAKER_00

I'm not trying to kick your seat. I barely fit in the seat.

SPEAKER_12

Virgil, it's very rude.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, it's very rude. I'll show you rude. I start kicking the seat.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, so you're gonna you're gonna keep going down the highway for a little bit. What was your name again? I'm so sorry. We never asked. Janice. Janice. Hi, Janice. I'm Michael. Very nice to meet you. Very grateful you're driving us. I'm Virgil. Nice to meet you. Of course.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, and I'm Sis Sisylvia. I once had a casting director who didn't like me named Janice. Cool.

SPEAKER_09

Interesting. Uh, as she uh never takes her eyes off the road, uh, hands it 10 and 2, and uh she begins driving you guys. Um we'll do because it is this this place is the Your Guys' uh home, your guys' city, is uh kind of more of an industrial based city. It's I mean that's that's how that's what it was founded on. Industry, the clockwork that built the the city itself, grew the industry, grew, helped grow the city. And so uh mostly brick and mortar places, it's a little bit was a little bit, you know, a little bit grungy, but still a good clean, like a like a really nice, really nice downtown area, kinda was the your guys' home metro. Just really nice industrial, fixed up industrial downtown area. As you guys are driving through here, you see mostly steel and glass buildings. You see uh these skyscrapers, this what what was the the tall uh clock tower looks to be this skyscraper with just windows, this like office skyscraper over here. You see the uh streets and sidewalks, just pristinely clean asphalt, no potholes anywhere. And it's again, it feels like your city, but with this odd skin and blanket thrown over it. Um but there are a few minor differences. You see an old uh convenience store that looks to be a gas station set up to your guys' left, where was a mechanics shop uh where people would take their clockworks to go get fixed and worked on and stuff like that. Um you see a uh nice what was once a park, uh now this parking lot. Um a smaller park looks to be this parking lot. Uh so there are a few little differences within this city. So um if you guys could, as a group, uh DC's going to be 12, roll me a some sort of a pathfinding check. You guys can of course use whatever skills you guys have, um and we will just really need um we'll basically do you need two successes to kind of get this uh get this going. I got a 17. Okay. Well, was it your rolling?

SPEAKER_00

Uh pathfinding, but we can decide on what's going on. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_09

You can you can like use your spells to kind of kind of uh you know maybe reveal stuff, uh use history as you're using your memory. Um I'm gonna try to remember. I mean it's 17 plus zero for history, but like that's what I'm trying to do, is trying to just remember. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Um heck yeah. So you guys are going down the path, and you know at the um exit of Machinery Avenue, uh, where you were would get off the bullet train, uh, had this uh this big um well this big donut shop. Yeah. And it looks to be this tire shop, but it still has that big that big circle up above it. And uh, you know, hey, you need to take a right there, uh so you're able to get uh get that and get heading down um Machinery Avenue. Um anyone else wanting to attempt a what what street is this called now? Is it molasses Avenue now? Oh yes, that's exactly what it is. Molasses Avenue.

SPEAKER_13

How do you know?

SPEAKER_00

I just I have that intuition, uh, you know. Um I'm in fact I think I'm gonna roll for kind of my survival instincts, being kind of jumping into unfamiliar territory and and pushing through seems to be my okay, my specialty.

SPEAKER_10

So yeah, we're gonna try to see if I see how I could do with a little bit of survival. That is it. That is a nine.

SPEAKER_09

A nine?

SPEAKER_10

I will say I am cockeyed in this car.

SPEAKER_09

You're cockeyed, your neck is crooked. Um but yeah, you you you're you're trying to push through, but but you were just too uncomfortable to really like focus and see, like, figure out where you guys are. You close your eyes for a second, then a block passed by, and you're like, oh shh, shit, where am I?

SPEAKER_03

And then Sylvia keeps moving their seat as if she is scooching it further and further back slowly as the ride goes on.

SPEAKER_01

I'm feeling like there's less and less space back here.

SPEAKER_03

What? That's so weird. It's a two-door car. What the heck? Um you know, I wonder, I might do, could I use my perception just since I'm sitting in the front row?

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, yeah, for sure.

SPEAKER_03

Sweet. I'm gonna take a gander around, and that is uh that's a 21 with my perception.

SPEAKER_09

Absolutely. Absolutely beautiful everything.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_09

As you uh as you guys continue uh forward, Michael, as you guys turn down this area, you you kind of also lose, it's like, uh, that's kind of you know, I I know it was a few blocks down, but I kind of use landmark, you kind of use landmarks a little bit more than uh I mean, of course you knew the cog lane, but now they're all mixed up first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth street. You're like, oh man, which which street number was it? Um Sylvia, you knew I mean you knew exactly, it was 17 blocks away from the bullet train. Um, and uh you're able to spot this cute uh this cute little bar, uh almost more like a diner uh setup than a bar, but um it's just called Three Cats.

SPEAKER_03

Well, look at 17th Street. They got a small business grant.

SPEAKER_00

What what? What are you what are you talking about? I can't see.

SPEAKER_03

Look, there it is.

SPEAKER_01

Uh this is good. Janice, this is great. Right here is fine. Thank you.

SPEAKER_03

Janice, you've been a darling. And I give her two kisses on each side of her cheek, and then I look at her a pooper on the nose and I go, Don't have a change.

SPEAKER_09

Thank you. Um and then as she like uh you write me a quick insight check, Sylvia.

SPEAKER_03

Oh yeah. I was hoping you'd ask. I am reminding myself how to properly do an insight check. I apologize and I'm finding it. It's right there. That is a 15.

SPEAKER_09

A 15, nice. Very insightful. Thank you. As you uh do that and you give her those two kisses and you boop her on the nose uh and telling her don't to change, you see this like smile, and you see like for the first time her eyes kind of like light up and glow as she says thank you. Thank you. As she just goes deadpan face again.

SPEAKER_08

Um well, I hope you are comfortable on your drive.

SPEAKER_09

And gives this almost like forced smirk.

SPEAKER_02

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Uh can we please get out of this vehicle?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Stiff as a board.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, Sylvia had to get out first.

SPEAKER_03

I like yoink my chair all the way forward again and you like explode out.

SPEAKER_09

Oh god. Just like a can of biscuits just he just falls out. Um you open the car door and I crumple out like oh.

SPEAKER_07

Sylvia. You're welcome. When I climb out, I'm gonna flip like one of my coins in into the car, which I don't think it's the currency they use here, but like, you know, what's a little what's a little goofy dollar, you know. It's something else to mark the their occasion with, you know.

SPEAKER_00

Michael, you you you said one of your coins.

SPEAKER_10

Do you have like some sort of like it's like your coin? Like a command.

SPEAKER_03

Like here's a Michael DeBloon.

SPEAKER_09

I mean, like, I mean like a money. I've uh one one denomination of money, please. I will I will I will just kind of flip into the into the passenger seat and be like, thank you for your trouble. She just kind of looks at this round coin, just kind of like, of course, yes, we uh always help. Alright. Uh close the door.

SPEAKER_03

I wave goodbye to Janice.

SPEAKER_09

Uh Janice goes and drives away again. Um the only car.

SPEAKER_03

You know, guys, I think I figured out what's different about this world.

SPEAKER_07

What is it for? Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Nobody here ever taught them the magic of theater.

SPEAKER_02

When I went up to Janice and I made an actual connection, like an audience connection. That there was something that came alive in her eyes that I hadn't seen the entire drive. It was it was so strange. And it just in that moment I knew that she had never ever once watched Stomp.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, I've never seen Stomp, is it? Would you speak?

SPEAKER_03

Would you like to right now?

SPEAKER_00

No, I no, I don't no, I'm good. I'm good.

SPEAKER_01

I just want to go to the show. No, no, no, Sylvia's initiative Stomp is really good. You you should have said that. That was like the opening season, I think, of our collectives that we did stomp.

SPEAKER_03

You remember? I'm gonna forget to do that year. I feel bad about it.

SPEAKER_07

No, it's okay. It's okay.

SPEAKER_00

We have to go ahead and I start walking into the diner.

SPEAKER_03

You're a strong mover. I'm a strong dancer, singer, actor, comedian, mime, comic. As I'm walking in.

SPEAKER_07

That's a quintuple threat right there.

SPEAKER_03

There's more, I'm just forgetting it. I don't have my resume in front of me.

SPEAKER_09

You guys walk in, and it gives again, it is this uh kind of corner diner vibes. Uh to where it has this awning around the the edge, the ends of it, the corner of it is rounded. Uh uh for the um uh and kind of curving into this patio space over on the side, which um was a rooftop bar. It's this all kind of seems familiar to you, Michael, but of course, it was a two-story building before. Now it seemed to be just this one-story um diner-esque bar. This is peculiar. Heading inside, uh, you guys kind of see the the Michael. It's a similar layout to the clockwork drum as many other things. Uh, you see the bar in front of you. There looks to be a bartender that's kind of sitting sitting there. There are these benches kind of laid out again these uh nice fluffy benches with these um is this teal colored seats and the pipes, the uh stalks of these uh uh stools are are chrome, and you see kind of benches, bench seats kind of laying all around or laid out all along the sides of this bar. Uh a few little uh square tables set in the center, uh and there's a few patrons. There's there's kind of two that are that are sitting upright uh up at the bar, seems to be having uh some drinks. There are about three. They look to be alone as they're about three stools away from each other, and there's a few people that look to be sitting in these benches.

SPEAKER_07

There are any booths, or are they the benches on the box? Yes, sorry, booths. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. We're gonna we're gonna go take a booth because I don't see the sign that says uh please wait to be seated, so I'm gonna go straight in and sit in a booth.

SPEAKER_00

I guess I follow.

SPEAKER_09

A uh young well no, actually an older Orcish woman with uh this this this graying hair, but uh you can see as it's kind of this dusty silver, as if she she had this really dark, thick black hair before.

SPEAKER_08

Uh, and she kind of comes up uh and can I take your guys' orders?

SPEAKER_03

Oh um I'll have You guys need menus.

SPEAKER_00

I would like a menu, yeah.

SPEAKER_09

She hands you guys your menus.

SPEAKER_08

Um uh can I get you waters? Or drink?

SPEAKER_02

Could could you have a warm tap water with a little bit of honey in it? I'm on vocal rest.

SPEAKER_08

Sure, yes. We can we can add honey to your order. Yes.

SPEAKER_09

Yes, thank you. And she writes writes honey down. Um writes that down. Water for you, sir? Looking at you, Virgil. Uh yeah, that would be fine, please. And Michael, were you ordering something?

SPEAKER_07

Absolutely, just water right now. I will look at this menu in a second.

SPEAKER_09

Thank you. Uh walks towards the uh back towards the kitchen.

SPEAKER_00

Um Hey guys, uh just Does this menu I can't read this menu. Is it is that just me?

SPEAKER_03

Oh.

SPEAKER_00

Oh no.

SPEAKER_03

I'm gonna take a good look at this menu.

SPEAKER_00

It looks uh it looks like unleible. Oh no.

SPEAKER_01

This is bad. What do you mean? Michael, what do you mean?

SPEAKER_07

If the words if if we can't read the words, right, then a lot more about this place is different than from where we came from.

SPEAKER_01

Well, hold on, we can clearly speak the language. I mean, I I would hope we could read.

SPEAKER_07

I mean, the roads are different, the donut shopping past the tire place, there's a highway where the bullet train used to be.

SPEAKER_00

But I could clearly read the sign that said Molasses Avenue. I mean.

SPEAKER_07

Oh man. Are you sure you can't just read? You can't. Just not read suddenly? Like I wait, I'm gonna look at the menu real fast.

SPEAKER_03

Oh my gosh, I I scooted my chair hard into your skull, didn't I?

SPEAKER_09

You guys all look down and it looks this it looks to be some sort of a similar to your guys' common language, but um almost as if kind of it looks like letters are layered on top of each other. It's cursive. As like you wrote write a whole word in the same place uh kind of look to it. Uh and it looks like this this menu is just like a small little pamphlet. Um, probably about the size of a note card. Oh probably probably a little bit larger than a note card, probably like a trifold, a small little trifold. Um and it looks like there's quite a few options here on the front side. The back side is blank, but it looks like it's some sort of efficient way of writing that that allows them to get everything upon this this smaller menu.

unknown

Huh.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah. That's rough. Alright.

SPEAKER_03

I have to call my mom. Tell her I got dyslexia.

SPEAKER_07

Sylvia, we can we can't we have to talk about this. We can't just leave yet. It doesn't matter what we order. I you just needed to get on the same page about what the heck is going on.

SPEAKER_03

So let's take apart what we know.

SPEAKER_07

Yes. Okay. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Um the baseline, what this language is sort of inferring to us is that they're trying to get the most amount of information in the most concise way possible, right? Or at the very least, yes, efficiency being a priority, andor possibly saving paper. I I I don't know. I'm I'm just thinking here. Um, it seems to be very uh naturalistic, very avant-garde. There are flesh people and there are flesh ducks. But at the same time, everyone seems to be in this case.

SPEAKER_00

You want to see flesh ducks? No, please never say flesh ducks again.

SPEAKER_03

Well, I mean, if not, quite a few cats actually my flesh ducks, if you know what I'm saying.

SPEAKER_07

I mean, if the default is duck, which is made of clockwork, you know, duck, then the different would be flesh duck, one that's not clockwork.

SPEAKER_00

Sure wish I could leave my body right now.

SPEAKER_03

Fleshwork. Ooh, that's a good like Pilates studio name.

SPEAKER_07

It would be. We'll have to remember that for later.

SPEAKER_03

We should write that down right now. Okay. Write it in your IS journal. Stop.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, no, thank you. I really appreciate you helping coach me.

SPEAKER_03

Of course. You're my protege.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. Listen, we need to figure this out because right now we have uh the three people that are missing from our conglomerate that basically flung themselves into a crazy gooey portal thing.

SPEAKER_01

I don't even know what it was, but tasted like lime and it was like it was gross.

SPEAKER_07

Lime is the worst flavor.

SPEAKER_02

And dreams.

SPEAKER_01

Sure.

SPEAKER_00

Uh but uh we So okay, what we know is that there doesn't s there doesn't seem to be any clockwork automaton, or at least it's not major, but there are cars. Uh there's cars to be yeah, we should be.

SPEAKER_01

You know what?

SPEAKER_03

If I may, fellas, uh hang on with me for a moment.

SPEAKER_01

Alright.

SPEAKER_03

There was an old community theater back home. And we would do shows there every summer, okay?

SPEAKER_02

Um we put on a musical one year, uh a very serious, more archaic piece the next.

SPEAKER_04

Sure.

SPEAKER_02

And every single time, you know, you'd you'd show up to the theater and you'd know it was home and you'd know where everything sort of sat and where everything sort of was.

SPEAKER_03

But per production, they would rebuild and redesign the stage, the arrangement of chairs, the set dressing, the background, the backdrop, the actors for some of us would be different, the paint. And if I may, with all the information we've collected, even from the guard, it seems to me that we are still in the right theater, but we're in a vastly different play.

SPEAKER_07

Whoa.

SPEAKER_03

I think we're in a different version of our own reality.

SPEAKER_01

Oh my gosh. Sylvia, I basically said that earlier.

SPEAKER_03

I wasn't thinking I was oh shoot.

SPEAKER_01

You are a genius. Oh my gosh.

SPEAKER_03

Thank you. Oh my gosh.

SPEAKER_01

Um never mind. Wow.

SPEAKER_07

Wow. Virgil, did you did you hear that? Did you hear what Sylvia just said?

SPEAKER_01

Michael, I sure did.

SPEAKER_03

It was called an analogy. You don't have to keep yanking my chain.

SPEAKER_01

I'd allegory of some of the things. Blair would be so proud of you. Oh, Sylvia, please stop. Oh God, Michael, I thought never mind.

SPEAKER_09

Uh comforter. As uh the orc waitress comes back with your uh drinks and uh two pouches of honey sitting next to your water Sylvia.

SPEAKER_08

Uh have you been able to look over the menu yet and see what you want?

SPEAKER_09

No, I forgot to learn how to read, but I think I what I want is is is simple enough.

SPEAKER_07

I would like just a five-eg omelet just with like cheddar cheese and like just a side of fruit.

SPEAKER_08

We don't have a side of fruit on the menu. That's okay. Um, but you want can you repeat your order again?

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, an omelet with five eggs. Our omelets only come with four eggs. That's okay.

unknown

Okay. Alright.

SPEAKER_09

Four eggs on the eye.

SPEAKER_00

Wait, wait, so you we can't get an omelet with an extra egg?

SPEAKER_09

It's it's neat. She looks at you like you just like cursed out loud.

SPEAKER_03

Pardon my friend. Um he is concussed because I hit him outside.

SPEAKER_08

Um Assault is a crime.

SPEAKER_02

Ooh, uh, I meant hit him with a fast one. Like a like a good joke.

SPEAKER_09

And he's still thinking about it. It really confused him. He's not that bright. Uch charisma check. Like deception or like deception or persuasion.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, okay, okay. Um shoot, it's an 11.

SPEAKER_09

An eleven?

SPEAKER_10

Ooh. Is that enough?

SPEAKER_09

She just uh looks at you, Sylvia, for for a few moments and then looks back at Virgil. No, we can't do an extra egg. Kind of like giving you this really like obviously because the menu doesn't say that.

SPEAKER_00

That's okay. So sorry. I my bad. My bad.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, and that would be very I'm kind of looking at the waitress as I say this. That would be very wasteful.

unknown

Yes.

SPEAKER_08

She just not on the menu. Okay. What are you going to ask for? Extra cheese on your burger.

SPEAKER_01

That would be so funny if we were to do that. To go off the menu like that? Insane. Oh man. You are so funny. You're so right. Oh no. Oh my gosh. Yes. I thought I could get you with the cider fruit too, and you were so quick to catch it and be like, no. Nope. Oh man. What's your favorite side here? And I'll have that with the omelet.

SPEAKER_08

Hash browns.

SPEAKER_07

Perfect. That's actually what I wanted. I was just trying to be healthy and catch fruit.

SPEAKER_09

One hash browns.

SPEAKER_03

And then I was expecting her to be like Magma or something fucking crazy.

SPEAKER_10

Well, thank God they have hash browns, am I right?

SPEAKER_08

One hash brown. Um, and for you?

SPEAKER_09

Looking at you, Virgil. You know, I'll just stick with my water. I think I'm I don't think I'm hungry. Looking at Sylvia.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, uh.

SPEAKER_03

Ooh. I'll have a big bowl of black coffee.

SPEAKER_08

Our black coffee doesn't come in a bowl, is a we can bring you out the pot and a mug.

SPEAKER_02

Pot and ladle, call it even.

SPEAKER_08

I'll bring you out coffee.

SPEAKER_09

Um and she kind of like looks at you guys as she kind of writes it down and goes back to the kitchen.

SPEAKER_02

See, these people have never seen the music man.

SPEAKER_07

What? They don't know classic musicals. That's the same thing.

SPEAKER_03

They don't seem capable of original thought.

SPEAKER_01

I've never seen the music man, and I have original thoughts.

SPEAKER_03

Well, buddy, you got trouble. Right here in River City.

SPEAKER_07

Right here in Metro City.

SPEAKER_03

Metro City. Atrocity. That's a joke.

SPEAKER_07

That's good.

SPEAKER_09

15-20 minutes go by as your guys' food comes out. Vincent, your your food comes out, and um you get your four omelet or four egg omelets with a um side of hash browns. Side yeah. Well, one hash brown is what she kept calling it, as it looks like to be a potato that just looked to have been boiled just right there on the side of it. Wow. And then a wow, a pot of coffee um with a mug given to you, Sophie, Sylvia.

SPEAKER_07

This looks delicious. I am so excited. Thank you so very much.

SPEAKER_08

And don't tell anyone I like to put salts online.

SPEAKER_09

Oh, oh, you're playing risky with that. I'll try it out. I'll try it out. And she kind of just turns around and walks away. Okay.

SPEAKER_01

These people, there's there is something wrong here. They are so boring.

SPEAKER_03

They're freaking lobotomized. They are so boring. I'm so funny, and she hasn't laughed at me once.

SPEAKER_01

Guys, just because they aren't okay. What on earth gives you the idea that they're lobotomized? I mean, they act like, okay, they're weird, sure, and they don't do five egg omelets, but I mean that's also a weird question.

SPEAKER_07

Five that's a lot of eggs in an omelet. I wish she'd be.

SPEAKER_03

They think salt is exciting.

SPEAKER_07

Do you remember how slow Janice was driving the car? That was so slow. That road was big. It was only her. She could have gone as fast as she wanted to.

SPEAKER_04

Alright, now that's just how Essential.

SPEAKER_09

Especially since she was the only car on the road. Yeah. But she didn't.

SPEAKER_01

They are to the point about the menu here. The crazy idea is to say, ooh, salt.

SPEAKER_07

That's insane. That's insane.

SPEAKER_01

We're in some kind of a I don't know how to describe it. Like this is we're we're we're maybe maybe maybe we need to rethink this. Alright. If I was in a new city, Ooh, role play.

SPEAKER_02

I'll look like I'm in a new city.

SPEAKER_01

Sure, yes. We're gonna do some role playing here, alright? Let's pretend that we've just gotten to a big new city. Oh my goodness.

SPEAKER_11

What the heck?

SPEAKER_01

I don't sound like that.

SPEAKER_11

Why is this city so big?

SPEAKER_01

I I don't think are are you trying to be me? Because I don't sound like that. Yo, my eyes are closed. I can't tell who's who. This is great.

SPEAKER_12

I am I I eat farts and shits for breakfast. No, I don't. I'll have one dick in my water, please.

SPEAKER_01

I've never said that. It's so much funny.

SPEAKER_07

Hello then. Open your eyes.

SPEAKER_12

It was me.

SPEAKER_07

Oh man.

SPEAKER_10

Yes, it was you, Sylvia. It was always you. Okay.

SPEAKER_02

How are we gonna get home?

SPEAKER_10

Thank you.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, I obviously maybe we need to Okay, so we we we were messing with an artifact and it sent us here. Artifact. Yes, yes. So it sent us here for some reason. And separated us for some reason.

SPEAKER_03

Okay. Well, if this world is a re-outfitted version of our own previous world, then shouldn't logic follow that perhaps if we just retraced our steps to where we first found the artifact, maybe we would sort of loop away back around.

SPEAKER_07

The old bridge is so crazy. It just might work. No, that's yes, the old bridge.

SPEAKER_00

You know what, Sylvia? That is a good idea. That is the first good idea that I think you've had.

SPEAKER_07

Uh we're the second good idea she had.

SPEAKER_01

Alright.

SPEAKER_03

Thank you. Second.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, the second.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, sure. Well, I'm gonna drink my water and we're gonna eat this food, and we're gonna go to the old bridge, and we're gonna figure this out, and we are going to get back home to all of our friends and pretend this never happened.

SPEAKER_14

Are you guys also imagining the restaurant from Seinfeld as we're sitting here?

SPEAKER_07

You know I wasn't, but actually, I think that makes sense.

SPEAKER_01

I think that works good. I think this is this looks like the restaurant from Seinfeld.

SPEAKER_09

Uh, monks. Yeah. Yeah. As you uh yeah, as you guys uh finish your meal, uh most of the way through your meal, you guys are given the check. It looks to be a uh the the risk the check is probably about a little bit smaller than your than your average size check.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_09

Well, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Well, very small for me.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Wait, I was charged for water?

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, you guys were charged for water. Sylvia was charged for the extra honey. Uh the hash brown was a uh whole other order. Everything seems to uh be a worth a gold. Oh so they charge with the salt too, or how many shakes of salt did you take it? It was a whole potato. I probably did like five shakes. Yeah. I had salt on it already. Yeah, yeah. Each shake, it says shake of salt on that on your itemized.

SPEAKER_01

She was watching me each shake.

SPEAKER_00

That's what that does anyone have a gold they could spare? I I left my oh.

SPEAKER_07

I wanna say we count it out, and I'm probably we're probably one short, and that's the one I gave. Oh no!

SPEAKER_00

Uh listen. I don't I didn't I don't I don't have any money on me. Uh we come on, someone's gotta have a gold coin, right?

SPEAKER_03

Either of you I gave Blair my last gold coin this morning for rent.

SPEAKER_00

Alright, here's what we're gonna do. We're going to stand up slowly, act like we've paid our bill, and we are going to go out that door and beeline it to the old bridge. Got it? Are we good? We out. Ready?

SPEAKER_09

One as you stand up as you stand up, you turn around and uh there is uh the waitress. Are you ready to pay?

SPEAKER_10

We we we sure I was uh we were just go all going to the restaurant.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, we were going. Yes, we were going to a pay, but it seems that all three of us lost our um wallets outside, tripping upon the cyborg. Good. Wallets cascading out, money uh falling out as well. We have to go find it.

SPEAKER_00

Yes.

SPEAKER_08

Well, one of you will have to stay here.

SPEAKER_03

Michael will stay. Good job, Michael.

SPEAKER_00

Alright.

SPEAKER_01

And I'm I'm gonna really quickly whisper to Michael as quietly as I can and almost and try to be nonchalant about it, but I would be like, Michael, you escape out the back and you get to us as soon as you can.

SPEAKER_03

I'm gonna put a hand on Michael's shoulder and go, remember, your motivation is to be accessible.

SPEAKER_07

Whoa.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, sorry, I meant to be an accessory.

SPEAKER_10

All right, well, we're gonna go get that money that fell outside. Uh come on, Sylvia.

SPEAKER_03

Here, money, money, money. Yeah, money, money, money.

SPEAKER_10

As we walk out the door.

SPEAKER_09

You guys walk out the door, and Michael, uh the waitress just kind of stands there. Looking at you.

SPEAKER_03

As we're like about to walk outside, I'm gonna mouth to Michael, put the moves on her.

SPEAKER_04

Put the moves on her.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, Michael, so what what are the moves? You know the classic Michael moves?

SPEAKER_03

You tell Virgil, like like under my breath, I'm like, I'm like, whenever we were younger, Michael was the tenor everyone wanted to fuck. Watch this.

SPEAKER_10

What?

SPEAKER_07

I I look to the waitress and I I say, oh, oh my goodness, your your eyes, they're so beautiful.

SPEAKER_01

I can just I can just look in and see it's sh it's just a a just a a a pool of you inside. I I feel like I feel like I'm I'm being consumed by your vision.

SPEAKER_08

Uh she looks at you and not trying to consume you, you're not you don't look edible.

SPEAKER_07

I mean metaphorically, of course. Of course you wouldn't you wouldn't try to eat me. That's that's silly.

SPEAKER_08

No. No, that that's that is very odd.

SPEAKER_07

Odd to say silly, silly indeed is odd, yes.

SPEAKER_08

Yes. Where is it you are from?

SPEAKER_07

You know, not really from a place. I've kind of traveled around, been from place to place. The last town I was in was a lot like this one. Name escapes me, and here I am just looking to explore and find new things.

SPEAKER_01

I got that that my stomach's really upsetting me.

SPEAKER_09

I gotta go to the bathroom. Um Sylvia and Virgil, what are you guys doing? Are you when you guys go outside? Are you are you looking are you guys watching Michael or are you guys booking it?

SPEAKER_03

I think we're booking it and trying to loop around to the back if there is a back door.

SPEAKER_09

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Um through the back.

SPEAKER_09

You guys run around to the back alley, uh, and then this this back alley is again perfect ass perfect concrete here on the ground. The trash bin is perfectly clean and closed, uh, and there is there is the back door there. Michael. I mean, she's acting a little odd, of course, asking you where you're from. Um you see is one of her hands is just in her pocket.

SPEAKER_07

Oh, I know she's suspicious of me because she I think she knows or trying to skip out on the bill. I I I'm in the industry and I I know when to keep aware of these things.

SPEAKER_09

You pick it up. I want to go to the bathroom and try to climb out the window in the bathroom. That's my man.

SPEAKER_07

Um I what do I hope there's a window in the bathroom?

SPEAKER_09

As you head uh head towards the bathroom, uh you look over your shoulder and she you see she quickly like pulls out a phone and puts it to her ear. Okay, no, now I'm forgetting the bathroom. I did leave all of my money I had right there. Like that they're they're not they're not losing all of it. Oh, that means it's not getting a tip either. No, no, no, now I get it. Yeah, no, okay, now instead I'm running out the back door. This is it. Okay, this is the point now. Yeah you you run towards the back door, and Virgil Silvet, you hear this bang on the back door, but Michael, there's it's locked. There looks to be a uh some kind of a number code key lock on the back door here. Oh man. Oh, this is in the bathroom. Oh, this is so weird. I I got I got turned around. Um yeah, you're are you backpedaling back into the um into the main dining area? I I can't. I mean the the door, is it a glass door with like a or is it like a No, it looks it looks to be kind of like just a metal back door with like kind of that push uh where it's this like twist handle on it.

SPEAKER_07

You gotta enter a code to exit each time this freaking place.

SPEAKER_03

Can um can I try casting a witchbolt to break down the doorknob?

SPEAKER_09

Hell yeah. Um yeah, roll me a well, yeah. Let's just see give you an at see an attack on witchbolt.

unknown

Take a look.

SPEAKER_00

I really gotta figure out this monk stuff. I've never played a monk before. Oh, really? No, I've never I've played so much DD, but I've never played a monk.

SPEAKER_07

Monk is fun. I like monk.

SPEAKER_03

And then what do what do I add to that? Is it spellcasting mode?

SPEAKER_09

Uh it will be your spell casting modifier, yes.

SPEAKER_03

That's a 11.

SPEAKER_09

11, yeah. So as you do it, you you hit it. Um, what does it look like when you are casting the spell? Oh what is what is Sylvia casting?

SPEAKER_03

Um, you know, zip zap zop.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

I think I go, I think I literally go zip, zap, and then on zap, I like slide my hands together with perfect enunciation.

SPEAKER_09

Zip, zap, zop. And from her from her uh her tongue, from her forked tongue, Virgil, you can see like this lightning forming between the two prongs of her tongue, and as she does, she sends it through her palm and just uh shoots this uh beam of lightning uh that has this uh almost melody to it, to its uh to its buzzing. Uh as it does, you you shoot it at the the handle of the door. Virg Michael, as you back away from the door, you can see uh as kind of the the door handle looks to be starting to glow red as uh which bolt you continue holding it um as it looks to begin to start heating the handle and starting to uh heat it up. Virgil, you begin to hear sirens off in the distance. Okay.

SPEAKER_07

I hope it's heating up for me to grab and open it.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, yeah. As holding it, uh Sylvia, are you are you hitting hitting you holding this spell? Is it are you hitting like some sort of a melody or anything like that? Hitting a pose? What is uh because which bolt is something that you you hold your concentration on the spell and it basically stays um stays connected to whoever your target is for consistent terms as long as you have concentration.

SPEAKER_03

If you're familiar with like uh Fossey kind of hips, like a la Chicago, I think I'm doing like a like a ooh, like a full jazz sort of hip number with my hands nice and low, and I'm really aiming those beams of uh heat and lightning at the hinges of the door and the doorknob.

SPEAKER_09

Okay. Heck yeah. As you do them and you take it as the sparks of lightning just keep going and hitting the the hinges and everything like that. You can Michael, you can hear the door uh beginning to creak a little bit. You might be able to uh you might be able to break this door down.

SPEAKER_00

Can I um can I just be like this is taking too long and try to do martial arts on the door with an unarmed strike?

SPEAKER_09

Hell yeah, hell yeah. Yeah, roll me in the tack.

SPEAKER_00

This is taking too long. Try to like bust the door down with uh okay, so how okay, martial arts. Uh you gain an unarmed strike, you can use dexter uh I will still use strength. Uh okay.

SPEAKER_09

Strength monk, baby.

SPEAKER_00

Well no, deck no dexterity. I have more dexterity because I am a okay um dexterity is like the monk stat. I I see it now, I see it. Um okay, so I I need to roll an unarmed attack, so I god, I'm like forgetting what to do.

SPEAKER_09

Uh you'll you'll be able to hit it. Um just roll. Uh you're proficient in athletics, correct?

SPEAKER_00

That is correct.

SPEAKER_09

Yep, yep. Roll me. Well, yeah, it'd be the same thing as an attack, actually. So yeah, an attack or an athletics check. Uh it'd be the same. So I'll just roll a d20 and then it's uh am I adding my DEX modifier to it? Uh your attack roll. So uh on the uh on your character sheet it should have a plus I don't know, four or five or something like that there, and then it should have your damage. Oh, unarmed strike. I'm a okay, so it's plus five attack bonus. Yep. Unarmed strike. So plus five to your attack. And then I'm assuming a plus three to your damage. Alright. Yeah, it would be plus three to my damage. So to hit it, which oh wait, so am I rolling to hit the door?

SPEAKER_00

I think I can hit the door.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, yeah, well, uh, yeah, let's just see, make sure you don't break your hand on the door or something like that. So if we're rolling for like hitting the door, it's like 12 uh uh like a 15. 15, heck yeah. Uh yeah, roll damage on that door. All right, cool cool. As you guys, uh Sylvia, as you ooh, Jazz. Jazz. Uh, you begin to hear the sirens getting a little bit louder. Now, all this is happening within only like 10 to 15 seconds.

SPEAKER_10

Oh my god. Um, sound design.

SPEAKER_00

I that's like it's not a lot of damage because I'm like level one right now, so that's like uh five damage. Is that enough?

SPEAKER_09

Five damage. That's yeah, that's enough. Um Michael, as you as you kind of you were stepping back, and um what what were you doing on the other side? I assume the door opens out as a lot of restaurant doors.

SPEAKER_07

Oh, wait, or in.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I'm kicking it in.

SPEAKER_07

So Oh, so I guess I'm pulling it in. I feel like I forget. Yeah, I know the way it goes. I'm pulling it the way the door is supposed to go, which we decided is in, so I'm giving it a yank.

SPEAKER_09

Um, yep, you you go down, grab it, and yank on it, uh, burning uh the burning handle. You will take one point of fire damage just real quick as you pull on it. Absolutely. Uh and as you do, uh it pulls, and you guys can just hear the metal just creak and almost like uh bend uh as Virgil comes and just uh kicks this door down. Uh Michael, you're able to get out of the way real quick as this flies off the hinges down at your guys' feet. Um Michael, we gotta go.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, I'm uh yeah, absolutely.

SPEAKER_00

I'm absolutely we are B level up by the old bridge.

SPEAKER_02

We gotta haul ass, lads.

SPEAKER_09

Alright. Uh so we are going to enter a uh chase sequence. Uh, you guys are going to be uh heading through this familiar-ish, unfamiliar city, trying to evade the police as you guys uh get back to the street uh and begin heading uh towards the edge of town. Uh, you guys can see the sirens of these cops that are going about 30 miles an hour um towards your guys' location down 17th Street. Um yeah, sure. I'm in.

SPEAKER_14

Oh boy.

SPEAKER_09

Tracks.

SPEAKER_14

Yep.

SPEAKER_09

Alright, um, so you guys are running. So basically how this works, um, we'll need um two group successes. Um, so at least two of the three you guys on each phase will need to succeed, and as you succeed, you guys will gain, get further away from these uh pursuing cops. But as you fail, they will get closer to you. Uh, three group failures or two group successes on this. Um, so as you guys begin uh to run, uh what is it you guys want to do?

SPEAKER_07

I want to try to lead us down some uh dip through some alleyways that I know that like like kind of kind of shortcut ways to get us through because uh it's for hopefully for them to lose us.

SPEAKER_09

Heck yeah, yeah. Um yeah, and so everyone will uh so basically on each phase everyone will roll. So Vince or Michael's going to be uh kind of uh leading the path on this. I mean, you guys can of course uh do like just straight athletics checks, you just wouldn't be able to do it on the subsequent turn, or you guys can do uh use your spell skills, just creative stuff, cause distractions, all that stuff to kind of help give you guys some space between yourselves and the slowly pursuing police.

SPEAKER_01

Um I I want to use the survival for the flavor of I've lived in the streets for a minute, though ranger though I am, I've mostly been in the city, and I I am trying to just use my know-how of how to use these back alleyways to avoid being found.

SPEAKER_09

Heck yeah. Sylvia and Virgil, what are you guys wanting to do? I mean, I'm I'm a I'm a big guy. I've I'm I'm I'm trying to like sprint with my athletics as as far as I can to just get as just I'm I'm booking it.

SPEAKER_00

I am like I am determined, like I am not going to jail again. I am not going to jail again. I am not going to jail again.

SPEAKER_09

Alright, Sylvia?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I mean I'm I'm pretty good at seeing in the dark. So I'm gonna kind of hang out and like I'm gonna try to keep to like the shadows of buildings and sort of.

SPEAKER_09

Are you trying to uh do stealth or are you uh like are you saying like perceiving in the through the dark alleys? Perception check.

SPEAKER_14

Ah stealth, yeah.

SPEAKER_09

Stealth? Okay, yeah. All right.

SPEAKER_14

She said full jazz crouch.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, full jazz crouch. Heck yeah. Alright, uh DC will be set to 10. Uh so if you guys do your make your roles for this first phase, and we'll see how it goes. Uh question. I want to make survival of one of my proficient uh skills.

SPEAKER_07

Is that that adds to more? Because right now with my wisdom bone, okay, cool. So that makes it a plus four. Yep. Correct.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, that is a natural 20 plus plus four. So 24. I don't want to go to jail.

SPEAKER_09

I got a dirty 20, 16 plus four. Dirty 20. Yeah. Nice.

SPEAKER_03

And what do what is my do I use a kind of modifier? Is it an athletics?

SPEAKER_09

Uh if you're doing stealth, it's your dexterity.

SPEAKER_14

Yeah, I love that. That's stealth ability. Oh, great.

SPEAKER_09

This is awesome.

SPEAKER_14

I love this. It's a six. Oh no.

SPEAKER_09

Um, you kind of get down in your uh low jazz stance, uh, and you realize it's it's not very good at at crossing a street. You're kind of just like crab walking across the street as Virgil and Michael just dip, uh jumping, oh jumping through this uh this very clean alleyway, and you kind of like continue squatting. You're like, oh, the shadows aren't near me. Uh, and you you have to take off with them. Um but Michael and Virgil actually take, I mean, with a natural 20 and a dirty 20, that's you guys immediately get away from these cops. Um, you guys cut through Michael. You know, you know these back alleys, and these back alleys still are just as familiar as you remember. You cut in through all these um all these alleys, and um you get you you're able to get away scot-free, um, out of the range of the sirens. Um it doesn't even seem like they've gotten they had gotten to the diner before you guys had gotten away. Um and uh yeah, in these uh back alleys and back streets. Um let me think. I think do we um I think that's probably a good time to take our little five-minute break if we want to take a little five-minute intermission. We could do a little five-minute intermission. Let everyone give their their potty breaks and such.

SPEAKER_00

I like a good potty break.

SPEAKER_09

And then we will be right back.

SPEAKER_00

So don't go anywhere.

SPEAKER_09

Don't go anywhere. Action. My my camera just doesn't like to be turning back onto the stream, but hello everyone, and welcome back uh to find out um what the hell's going on. Yo, what the hell is going on? You won't be able to do that.

SPEAKER_14

We did figure it out during intermission, though, which is yeah, yeah, we figured it out.

SPEAKER_09

We're not gonna tell you.

SPEAKER_00

We know we planned it all out. Uh, none of it's improvised anymore. We've just completely like came up with everything and we plotted everything from this session all the way to the final session. What to the end, yeah.

SPEAKER_09

As Tim said, you guys you guys know the outcome, you know everything. It's gonna be so good, too. You guys know the outcome. You're all gonna love it.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, it's all dynamic pantomter, which is incredible for this kind of medium.

SPEAKER_09

Um it's daring pull one more quick suggestion here. Oh boy. Um, and hope we get Virgil's t-shirt.

SPEAKER_10

Um was that a suggestion? Did someone actually put Birgil's t-shirt as a suggestion?

SPEAKER_09

Yep. Holy crap. Um, we got Sweet Potatoes by Casey. Oh, I I forgot to mention who did the uh three cats. Three cats was our uh other dungeon master Tim. Um but uh sweet potatoes by Casey. Thank you for your suggestion, Casey. Um so back to the alleys.

SPEAKER_00

Um you all You know where we all were born and where we all will die. From the top to the very bottom.

SPEAKER_09

You guys stop to catch your breath at this uh little intersection of alleys here. Um and as you do, um Michael, you could hear a meowing. I'm gonna look at that. Is that a street cat? Like uh Yeah, you turn around and look, and you see there's there's one street cat uh that just kind of sitting on this trash bin.

SPEAKER_03

Michael, we have to keep going. Yeah?

SPEAKER_01

Michael.

SPEAKER_07

Focus Yeah, does anyone think this cat's kind of fishy? Yeah, no, that was a fishy noise from a cat.

SPEAKER_03

Well, the cat is catty, not fishy. They eat fish. It's not really the same.

SPEAKER_01

What's weird about a cat? You literally hang out with a cat coach all the time.

SPEAKER_00

What is it doing?

SPEAKER_09

Uh as you hear this meow distort and twist as as it does, you see as it uh almost look as if it's glitching. You see its head and eyes almost look like they desync and fissure out from each other um as this thing kind of sits on this uh on this trash bin. And uh as it does, you guys kind of just see this shimmering and your vision almost goes blurry where this cat is sitting, as you can kind of see as it's meowing in pain. Oh as you can almost you see as it I can't look away, it it it splits. Um and whatever this happening to this cat also happened is happening to the trash bin underneath it. Um as as you begin to see double. It looks almost like uh there's two images of this cat, two of these cats almost uh um shaking between each other, glitching between each other. Um, and then you see three, three cats uh beginning to to shake between each other. You see as the the trash bin begins to shake and begins to distort as this cat and this trash bin begin to ship and change. You see these sweet potatoes begin to fall out of this trash bin and get begin glitching into uh these now three cats here and growing, growing, growing, as by the time it's done, you see these mad amalgamations of these large black cats with with trash bin lids on their heads. Um you see as they um look to have their paws and and toe beans look to be um look to be s made of sweet potatoes and their claws, but their claws are sharp. These claws are metal, their teeth are metal as they're looking at you guys and they are roaring now, no longer a meow, a roar. Um, I'm gonna need you guys to roll me initiative against these three uh sweet potato trash cats. Um guys, what the fuck is that?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, that's uh that's a um it's special effects. Initiative. What do I do if I roll a negative one?

SPEAKER_09

What? You go less. It's dexterity, isn't it? It's pretty sure it's a D2. It'll be dexterity. Dexterity. Um it's a five. Five? Not any better. And Virgil, what is yours? Thirteen. Thirteen. Speedy Virgil up here. Yeah, I rolled.

SPEAKER_14

I don't want to go to G.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, when you made your character, you really uh It wasn't up to me, Vincent. Alright.

SPEAKER_09

It was the dice. The dice. I remember somebody not using their reroll, but hey, that's it's true. So uh we will be using some modified combat rules for uh uh DD 5th edition. Uh so rather than action, uh bonus action, movement, reactions, and all that stuff like that, uh, each character is going to have four action points. Actions cost two AP, bonus actions, movement, and reactions cost one AP. They can only do um bonus actions, a specific bonus action once per turn, uh, and then they can um use as many reactions, as many actions as they really want to, as long as they still have action points on their turn or before their turn comes up. They regain those action points at the end of their turn to where they can then do reactions and such like that. Um there will be no spell slot restrictions for spell slots per turn, so you know. People can go a little bit NOVA if they want. Um, and then we do have two uh two other fun new mechanics, including declared reactions and spell dueling. Spell dueling we'll get to whenever you guys are really going against casters. But declared reactions is if you you can declare to do a specific action before your next turn. So at the end of your turn, you can declare, hey, if this specific situation, let's say if one of these uh sweet potato trash cats get within five feet of you, Michael, you want to make an attack on your turn. Um, or the moment they get within range, um, you can do that, and if that specific action happened, condition is met, uh, that two AP action actually only costs one action point. So if you declare something that's probably greater than an action, basically it's kind of you holding your action and or not holding any actions, but you're just kind of preparing for it for your next turn. Um But yeah, I mean we'll we'll kind of walk through it. If you guys have questions, we we will get through it. I think it'll once you guys get the hang of it, it will go pretty it'll start going pretty smoothly. Um but I think who was it that ruled the 13? That was me. Virgil. Virgil, you will go first. You're probably about 15 feet away from these uh sweet potato trash cats.

SPEAKER_10

Uh okay. Um sweet potato trash cats as you run into in an alleyway, obviously.

SPEAKER_09

Exactly. Yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Guys, I think we just hit the intersection from wherever the fuck we were to crazy town.

SPEAKER_03

That's good. Write that one down.

SPEAKER_09

Um, I I don't know if Virgil would immediately swing on these guys. Um, but so how do reactions work?

SPEAKER_01

Like, can I wait to see if one will swing at me?

SPEAKER_09

Basic, yeah, so uh if you don't use any of your action points by the end of your turn, um basically you just kind of skip your turn uh and you regain your actions at the end of your turn. So you can you can take any actions if you want, yeah. I'll I'll allow you to like hold off uh a free action point. If you want to forego your whole turn, I'll allow you to um do an action as a free reaction.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, because I'm thinking I'm gonna wait for one of these guys to lunge at me, and then I'm gonna give a if it comes at me, I'm gonna give him a swift like uh uppercut with some martial arts hoo-ha.

SPEAKER_09

Heck yeah.

SPEAKER_14

Um martial arts hoo-ha.

SPEAKER_00

Do that monk thing where I like, you know, I head with my fist, but like with pizzazz. I love it.

SPEAKER_09

Martial arts hoo-ha.

SPEAKER_00

That's uh head up with the old martial arts hoo-ha, you know what I'm saying.

SPEAKER_09

If you're um I'm assuming you are gonna move up a little bit and kind of get in the front. Are you gonna move up a little bit, kind of get in the middle? You know what? I will move up to kind of because I feel like I I'm the biggest. I I I kind of want them to be attracted to go after me instead of Sylvia or Michael, because I feel like I'm a little more equipped to fight these sweet potatoes. Okay, yeah, okay. Use one action point to move forward, and then all I'll say you're you're just kind of sitting here preparing, and I'll basically let you take a free reaction. Not even a declared reaction, just a free reaction that doesn't use any of your action points on your next from your next turn uh to make an attack if they get within melee range of you.

SPEAKER_00

Cool.

SPEAKER_09

Cool. And that's kind of how declared reactions would work at the end of your turn if you were to have taken your whole turn. So that's kind of a good example of that. Um cool. So you move up, move forward, and you're just kind of like in a readied position. Uh, and the moment you get in this readied position, you hear this distorted, uh, almost glitching cat's meow roar uh that also just sounds like a trash lid smacking against itself. Um uh as all three of them pounce towards you, uh the first one that pounces towards you, uh, you can uh roll that attack.

SPEAKER_00

Alright, I'm gonna go ahead and do an unarmed strike with again. I like I don't quite understand the martial arts stuff, but I'm trying to figure it out. Um like I I'm reading it from the link, but I don't I don't quite understand it.

SPEAKER_01

Like because I get one d4, but with unarmed strike, I already get one d4.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, so that I believe that's just kind of reiterating it. Let me here I can let me pull up your character sheets. Maybe my key. I don't know. I'm like, I'm trying to just do the the most bang for my buck as a monk here.

SPEAKER_13

I mean the the the monks have bang for your monk, right?

SPEAKER_09

Oh, your monk? Uh yes. I know you can use key points to like do a second attack after your first attack. Oh yeah, um well, I don't uh flurry of blows. Yeah, no, sorry, no, sorry, I don't have key because I am level one.

SPEAKER_01

That is correct. I have one D4. Oh, it would I'm sorry, because martial arts only really happens when you're a later level and your dice changes, and then you can swap that dice out.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, so so I'm just doing it. So I see the confusion. Uh the so the basic a basic like if Sylvia, not Michael, because I think Michael actually has claw attacks. Uh if Sylvia, well, she might have an unarmed attack too, um, were to just try to punch someone, it only deals one damage. You have a die that's connected to your fists and uh feet and knees and forehead, elbows, shoulders, whatever body part you want to use. Virgil is a weapon. Virgil is the weapon. Okay, so you're you're doing an uppercut on the first cat that comes up to you.

SPEAKER_10

That is correct. So I'm gonna see if I can hit this sweet potato cat, and that's gonna be A. Ooh, that's a pretty good hit. Let's see. 22.

SPEAKER_09

Ooh. 22 on the sweet potato trash cat. Heck yeah. Roll me uh roll damage on that.

SPEAKER_10

Let's see how strong these guys are because I'm a little worried. Uh let's see. Okay, yeah. So on a D4, I got a four plus three. So four seven, seven, seven? I did max damage. Seven damage.

SPEAKER_09

That's that's solid. Seven, you absolutely wallop this first cat as it comes up. Um, it's not out, but this thing looks to be hurting pretty bad. It's gonna get a uh claw attack on you, and the other two are also doing this pounce attack on you. So you will be taking uh three attacks here. Oh, the first one is a 14 to hit. Does that do your armor class?

SPEAKER_10

Does not.

SPEAKER_09

Oh. What is your armor class? 15. There you go. Uh the second one uh that comes up to you, it rolls a seven on the on uh seven total. The third cat is gonna hit with just a fifteen. Dang it. Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Like dodge, dodge, but the one coming back down on me.

SPEAKER_09

Um it will deal six points of damage to you and roll me a quick strength save. Holy crap.

SPEAKER_10

Okay, uh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Let's see. Strength save, that's gonna be kind of like okay.

SPEAKER_01

Um uh dirty 20.

SPEAKER_09

Dirty 20, okay. Heck yeah. Uh so as these three uh three metallic cats pounce at you, the first one comes up, you uppercut it as its paws uh come uh around towards you as it's trying to grab at you. You uppercut it, you're able to uh offset the cat enough to where its claws just come right in front of your nose. Uh the second one looks to come becoming a pounce on you. You after that uppercut, you lower your left shoulder and throw that cat over your back as the third one comes up over your shoulder uh and grabs onto you with its two claws and bites onto your shoulder, uh, trying to take you down to the ground, but your fur bulg just stoutness, you're able to catch yourself and um hold your ground here. You were surrounded by these three cats. Michael, it is your turn.

SPEAKER_00

I'm not feeling so hot.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, I'm gonna I look at my uh bite has the strongest attack bonus, and it's the same amount of damage as my sword, so I'm just gonna bite one of them.

SPEAKER_09

Heck yeah. Okay, uh that'd be an action, so that would take two of your action points. You can say, uh, would you say that you were right next to Virgil?

SPEAKER_07

I was pretty close to Virgil, so he just set in front of us.

SPEAKER_09

I don't think he'd be able to do that. I'd say you wouldn't have to move to make an attack then. So two AP two AP to make your attack. I will roll. Please be a good one. Cool. That's a 16 plus five. Sixteen, heck, heck yeah. You uh you strike at that first one that he threw over his shoulder, roll that damage. 1D6. It's a three. Three uh plus your strength modifier. Strength modifier would be that's a six, then six points of damage. Okay. Um hell yeah. As you uh go and bite at this one, you bite at this one's shoulder, not able to get too much grip as your bite also hits the uh the aluminum trash bin there. Um you do at still have two more action points. Uh if you want to take another attack action or something else. I'm really feeling crazy. I want to do another one. I'm a I'm a hell yeah. Do I can I can able to bite again? Do I have to start to break out my way? Yeah, yo. Uh but another bite. Another bite, hell yeah. Bite and mic, bite and mic. Okay, well, that one's not as good. That's a that's a five, that's a ten, which is not as good. It's a ten, unfortunately. Yeah, this second time you try to re-grip and grab back on it, but it shifts its shoulder blades a little bit to where um you just bite into two metal uh shoulder blades here. Um aren't able to catch, uh, get get another attack off, but this thing um this thing's looking hurt, um, but at the end of your turn, you regain your four action points. Oh, I forgot to ask Virgil. Oh wait, no, no. Virgil, you already did your deal. Michael, are are there any declared reactions you'd like to make? Nah. I mean, like, I can't you oh wait. I can now that I have at the end of your turn, you regain action points, and then you can use those as a declared reaction before your next turn.

SPEAKER_07

Just because Biden's really good, it's a it's a it's a freer thing for me to do.

SPEAKER_09

I'm gonna I'm gonna wait for some one of them to try to pounce on me and I'll crunch. Heck yeah. Hell yeah. Um, so declared reaction. If they attack you, you will crunch. Uh hell yeah, Sylvia. What are you doing as these sweet potato trash cats pounce your acquaintances?

SPEAKER_03

Um, I think Sylvia initially is sort of in a in a state of stunned sort of shock. I think the like the literal uh visual projection design of these cats has probably thrown her off a little bit. Um and I'm curious how smart are these cats?

SPEAKER_09

Um they look to it. I mean, when you first saw this cat sitting on the trash bin, um looked like just a normal sweet cat. Um but as it got distorted, this thing looked to have gone feral and um I mean obviously twisted uh with with this trash bin and the the trash that was within it. You said sweet cat. Like now it now it's a sweet potato cat. Yeah, sweet potato cat. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

I'm gonna say because I don't think this is a good idea, but I think this is what Sylvia would try to do. So I apologize, everybody. Um I think I'm gonna try to make friends with one of the cats uh using uh animal friendship. Can I do that, please?

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, yeah, hell yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Um which cat is closest to me?

SPEAKER_09

Um, it would probably be that um I would think it's the one that is on either you I mean you can kind of do any of them. They're all kind of clumped up right here. Um there's the one that Virgil uppercut, or that uh yeah, Virgil uppercut, the one that Michael is biting down on, and then there's the third one that is biting down on Virgil.

SPEAKER_03

Let me do that one. Um I'm gonna try to cast animal friendship to show that we mean no harm and see if the animal stops harming Michael.

SPEAKER_08

Um but that means we can't attack it after if it works.

SPEAKER_14

We'll see.

unknown

I don't know.

SPEAKER_09

Let me look at animal friendship real quick. Um the spell lets you convince a beast that you mean no harm. Um, so it needs to roll a wisdom save. What is your after we uh spell save DC?

SPEAKER_03

Sorry, repeat that?

SPEAKER_09

Your spell save DC should be, I believe, on the top left of your um character sheet. Or of the second page of your character sheet. Okay. Your spell page. 13. Alright, it gets a plus one to this, so it needs to just roll a 11 or lower.

SPEAKER_00

Come on.

SPEAKER_09

It rolled let me it rolled a 16. Um, but I will say um that it looks to kind of be affected just slightly to it by it, and it it kind of loosens its jaw a little bit. Um but you still do have two two more AP for your turn.

SPEAKER_03

Um, I think I think she's a woman of little patience. I think after finding that it didn't have the one effect that she wanted, um I think we're gonna go uh we're gonna hit it with a thunderclap.

SPEAKER_10

Oh my god.

SPEAKER_09

Alright, so thunderclap is an AoE hit spell. Oh no. Um it would hit everyone.

SPEAKER_14

Everybody.

SPEAKER_09

It will hit everyone. I mean you can do it. I'm just letting you know.

SPEAKER_14

Like everybody gets fucked up. Um 15-foot cube.

SPEAKER_09

Like, that is also an AoE then.

SPEAKER_03

I know. Um, I could make water and see if the cats don't like the water. I'm I'm trying, guys.

SPEAKER_10

Not a bad idea. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, let's do that. I'm gonna create water.

SPEAKER_09

Create water, hell yeah.

SPEAKER_07

Um physics be damned.

SPEAKER_09

We're creating madness.

SPEAKER_10

Cats hate water.

SPEAKER_03

They hate water.

SPEAKER_09

Cats hate water.

SPEAKER_03

Everyone knows this. And I'm gonna aim this towards the cat that's biting down on Michael to try to help him out.

SPEAKER_09

Okay. You mean you create water. Uh roll me just a quick uh roll me just a quick spell check. It would just be your uh the spell check in that same spot as your DC. Um you may get a little bit of an extra effect on it. You're using it creatively.

SPEAKER_03

And I'm I'm rolling a D20.

SPEAKER_09

Yep.

SPEAKER_13

Cool, 19.

SPEAKER_09

19. Oh wow. Hell yeah. Um, so as you do this, uh uh are you like just creating making it look making it rain on top of them, or are you like directing this water?

SPEAKER_14

I think I I think I'm like directing it. Like I think it's like I'm trying to do like a surge.

SPEAKER_09

A surge of water? Hell yeah. So you you take this, you create this water just above your head, and you just kind of throw it at uh well would Sylvia throw it or would she dance it? Maybe mime it towards?

SPEAKER_03

Oh yeah. I think I think she's embodying water.

SPEAKER_09

Oh, oh yeah, you're you're you're in a water tank holding your breath. Um, you go and hit the hit the the sidewall of this tank, put one finger up, and as you do, you like punch through the the glass wall as you do, going gasping forward as you send this, um, just out of nowhere, out of this mimory. Uh like where she where the the glass was that she just put her hand through, just a huge surge of water just comes out of Sylvia's fist towards uh this cat as it does, hitting it on the shoulder, and it looks like it it rolls off of you, Virgil. Um this cat is wet uh and not happy, but you can also see as like this its sweet potato paws kind of soften. Um as this thing looks a little bit um a little bit vulnerable right now. Um so Sylvia the literally yeah it's you see it's picks up its paws as like the the soft sweet potatoes just kind of start mushing a little bit.

SPEAKER_10

Um it's sweet, it's mashed potatoes now.

SPEAKER_09

Um Virgil, back at the top.

SPEAKER_00

So I am soaking wet.

SPEAKER_09

Uh yeah, you you are soaking wet. Um great work! And I'm gonna go and um honestly, uh so I I did see a comment by um Brandon that I do get a single unarmed attack as a bonus action. How does that work with the uh so that means it's it just means uh for one AP you can make uh a second attack. Oh fun. So you make your normal attack with two AP, and then once per turn you can take uh one specific bonus action per turn, and that would be like your unarmed strike. And the reason we kind of have I have that rule in is so that you can't do four attacks here at level one because you can with your bad hand attack four times with a bonus action. It just unmakes it. But uh, but yeah, you'll be able to you make your attack and then you can make a second attack with your offhand or with the kick.

SPEAKER_00

I think that's exactly what I'm gonna do.

SPEAKER_01

I'm gonna start with a you know two AP unarmed attack, you know, martial arts in it up. Uh, what is the weakest looking one right now?

SPEAKER_09

Uh it's the one you uppercut. Um, but the the other one that Sylvia just hit with the water looks um, I mean, it looks it doesn't look good. It it hasn't been hit by any like true damage, but it's it's not looking it's looking a little bit uh shaken.

SPEAKER_00

So first things first, I'm gonna just because that that one's on the ground like sopping wet, right? Like in front of me. Yep. I'm gonna give that guy a swift kick up to like just like kick pile drive it through.

SPEAKER_09

Alright. Um so let's see, let's see if that works first.

SPEAKER_10

Uh get the old trusty dice roller.

SPEAKER_11

Dice roller?

SPEAKER_09

That is a nat 20. Oh my god. Oh nat 20, baby! So plus uh plus five, that's 25. So that it hits. Yeah, so um yeah, roll your damage dice twice and then add your modifier so you get double dice and then add your modifier.

SPEAKER_10

Alright, let's do it.

SPEAKER_01

Alright, so that's gonna be five plus three?

SPEAKER_09

That's eight damage. Eight points of damage. Um, as you kick this um this sweet potato trash cat, you can feel like the sweet potatoes that make up this cat just soften behind your foot. As this thing just uh Oh god, you kick it. This thing was vulnerable to your bludgeoning damage. Um, and this you knock this thing out with a single hit. Um as you kick kick this cat, it goes and it hits the back wall as it looks to like glitch. Um again hitting the wall, um, landing on the ground. Alright.

SPEAKER_01

Um and with that, I'm then gonna quickly swing to the cat that's next to me that's like that was really, really low. And do it.

SPEAKER_09

Yep, the one that um yep, the one that you uppercut. Hell yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I'm gonna punch him right in the face.

SPEAKER_09

Hell yeah. Roll your attack on that one.

SPEAKER_10

Alright, let's see what happens.

SPEAKER_00

Alright, that is twenty-two.

SPEAKER_09

Yep, that hits. Roll damage.

SPEAKER_10

Um that's gonna be good ass rules. Alright, let's see. Alright.

SPEAKER_00

It's gonna be five damage.

SPEAKER_09

Five damage. Alright, that thing is still kicking, but not doing hot. This thing is hurting as you punch it again. Um it's uh Yeah. In private, you're in a back alley. They're they're abomination sweet potato trash cats, okay? So I have I have one more AP, right?

SPEAKER_10

So because we have four AP when we so is there anything else I can do to help before these two cats obviously wreck my day? Um let's see. Uh okay.

SPEAKER_09

Movement, bonus actions, and reactions. Uh yeah, you could you can kind of move. Um unless you have another specific bonus action you can do, but I don't know if you have much else other than that unarmed strike. I've got like hidden step, but that's that's uh that's that's a spell to get away kind of thing, too. Oh no, no, no, no, as a bonus action. You can start invisible until the start of your next turn or until you attack, make a damage roll or force someone to make a saving throw. Oh, there you go.

SPEAKER_01

So I'm you just you see Virgil take a hit and realize he doesn't um it doesn't kill them right away, and like there's two cats next to him, and he's like shit, and he's gonna like um take a step back as basically he just for a second turn like a bunch of leaves surround him and then he's just gone. Like in a whirlwind. Nice.

SPEAKER_09

And the leaves settle and Virgil's just gone. Disappears. Hell yeah. Uh uh Virgil just disappears in front of your guys' eyes. Uh as the cats, it is the cat's turn. First thing, the cat right in front of you, Michael, is going to attack you. Um, you could take your declared reaction for one AP and smack that cat. Luckily, I'm so ready. Chomp. Right on, right on that cat.

SPEAKER_10

Right on that cat. Right on that cat. Right on that cat.

SPEAKER_09

Oh man, and that that's that's a that's a 19 before I even add anything. Hell yeah. Roll damage, baby.

SPEAKER_10

Uh d6.

SPEAKER_09

It's a four plus three, seven. Seven? It's like a big bat of cat. All right. Um, how do you take this cat out as it goes to pounce on you? Oh, I go to grab it and I just crunch. Crunch its head, yeah, man. Oh my god.

unknown

Jesus Christ.

SPEAKER_09

They don't call him bite mic for nothing. It goes to the case. It'll be killed in these mean streets, man. Yeah. Uh it goes to pounce on you. You're able to uh you're prepared for it, you're ready for it. Um, I mean, you you've been jumped before in the back alleys, you know. Um, you know a thing or two. Uh you take this thing, you grab it as shoulders, you're able you lift up your elbows as it tries to get its claws on your back shoulders, but your uh it drags across your scales, not able to cat to uh to get purchase uh in your scales, and you just crunch down with your big um well. I guess we haven't really uh described kind of what kind of lizard folk are you, just more of uh are you like how big is your maw, I guess, is my question. Are you more of like a gator type of a lizard folk? Are you a um good question? I I didn't imagine a gator, I guess if you know the lizards and holes.

SPEAKER_07

I you know, I don't man.

SPEAKER_09

I mean with a name like that, I mean like I guess I have like a flare. I was I was thinking about like having some kind of a not like a neck flare like that. But you know what? What the yeah, yeah, actually, yeah, yeah, yeah. Not not a gator, but I like lizard with neck flare, so yeah. Hell yeah. Lizard with neck flare. Your your neck flares out as you just uh crunch down as your um as your primal instincts kick in, kill or be killed as you go and kill. Um as this this uh sweet potato trash cat falls to the ground. Um the second one is coming at you. Um and it with just this pounce. Uh I don't know if that will hit. That is with a 11 to hit.

SPEAKER_07

Uh-uh.

SPEAKER_09

Sorry, buddy. Uh again, your uh reptilian scales are able to protect you from this its claws being able to catch purchase, and it is your turn. Um use one of your action points f as a uh reaction so you have three AP remaining.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah. Uh so there's two left.

SPEAKER_09

The one that just tried to attack me. Oh, is there one left? One left, yeah. Just the just the one that tried to attack you, and it's looking hurt. Okay.

SPEAKER_07

Sorry, buddy. Biting's my best, my best tool I got. I'm gonna try it again. I'm gonna try a nice nice, nice little bitty bite.

SPEAKER_09

Crunch. Yeah, it works. What can I say? If it if it's stupid and it works, it ain't stupid. I got a sword, but biting is way cooler. Uh, not as cool with uh seven, eight, nine, ten. That's a twelve. Twelve that you just miss uh with that attack. As um as you go to you were just holding on to this first one as this second one pounces onto you, you're not able to get your uh head around really to to catch this catch this cat where uh there's not some some form of trash bin armor. Dang. Uh so you got one more AP. Anything you're wanting to do with that? You know, I'm looking at uh my abilities hungry jaws. I can throw yourself into a I can throw myself into a feeding frenzy, and as a bonus action, I can make a special attack with my bite. Ooh, there we go.

SPEAKER_07

So then I I I will just go. I I I had the nice uh taste of flesh earlier. Something in the biology takes over.

SPEAKER_09

It's very sweet. You know, I sweet sweet potatoes.

SPEAKER_07

It's the sweet potatoes. Delightfully machine. If I can go past the metallic tang of aluminum, man, that sweet potato. You know, like how how when you uh uh make a potato in like a fire when you're camping, you have you have a little you have to fight a little bit with the aluminum that's wrapped in it. Just kind of like that. Yeah, there you go.

SPEAKER_01

So I try I I'm trying again on that one.

SPEAKER_03

I saw that in my teeth as you deceived that.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, no, I hate that feeling of biting into aluminum foil, but let's see.

SPEAKER_07

The attack hits, it deals normal damage, and I gain temporary hit points. Uh oh, that's cool.

SPEAKER_00

All right. I just I just have to say um what something that Tim commented. I'm imagining the Elizabethan puffy collars but with a lizard head.

SPEAKER_14

That's what I thought of too.

SPEAKER_09

When when when Michael performs, you know, I'm not as sure he's like a performer as much as he has like.

SPEAKER_14

I'm sure he collars up.

SPEAKER_07

What kind of an actor do you imagine Michael is? Well, I think he's part of the collective.

SPEAKER_09

I imagined him doing mostly like front of housework and then like wanting to get on stage.

SPEAKER_01

I don't think he's made that step quite yet, but yeah, I think he's doing lovely bush, like uh I mean you were whittling down the street.

SPEAKER_07

Oh yeah, he's probably done like scenic design for sure and like scenic construction, absolutely. Like that that feels a lot more his bag, but I one day he wants to get on the stage. Uh this bite attack, uh still not good. That's a that's that's a 10. So that one didn't quite make it.

SPEAKER_09

Because this thing is on top of you, uh, and uh uh you're unable to shake it, you're aim unable to bite it. Uh Sylvia, okay. It's your turn.

SPEAKER_03

Obviously, things haven't been going awesome for Sylvia this round of combat.

SPEAKER_09

Um, so hey, you I mean you got that one cat uh vulnerable mushy, so Virgil could kick the shit out of it.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah, but I think I feel like she's all ideas right now, and she's not really in a proper headspace, I think. So um what Sylvia's gonna do is she's gonna look inward, and I think she's gonna try to reach out to that patron of hers again.

SPEAKER_09

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

All right, what is the following actions?

SPEAKER_09

Uh what is she asking? I think just a blessing of the following actions.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, what I think Sylvia's asking put me into character as someone who can kick their asses. Or put me into the like let me fight like let me go into this mindset of this character of a hero.

SPEAKER_09

Um roll me a uh will be a charisma jacket.

SPEAKER_14

Sorry, I'm literally trying to find my charisma right now. I know it's around here somewhere.

SPEAKER_03

I guess I love my charisma at home.

SPEAKER_00

My charisma's in my other pocket.

SPEAKER_09

I forget the layout of our character sheets.

SPEAKER_14

Yeah, sorry, it's a slightly different layout than what I'm used to, so my brain's constantly having to like go.

SPEAKER_09

Understood. Where are my numbers? I can't find my numbers.

SPEAKER_14

Seriously though. Oh, okay. I just thank fucking god. Uh seventeen.

SPEAKER_09

Seventeen. Yeah. Um what what hero is Sylvia? What is Sylvia's picture of a hero? That'll kick these cats asses.

SPEAKER_03

Sylvia's picture of a hero. And if I think of like to use references, I probably can't. I think of Vivian Lee running eight shows a week in a streetcar named Desire on the West End, in a role that's absolutely tearing her apart. But she prevails and she puts herself in the vulnerable position of Legois every single night. And she entertains the masses and sacrifice great emotional self-sacrifice for the benefit of everyone attending. That's what I feel like she's doing. So translate that to potato category.

SPEAKER_09

I'll see what I can do.

SPEAKER_14

Um, yeah, they're very close.

SPEAKER_09

I think they're I think they're I think they're pretty close. Um so as you sit here, uh it'll take uh and it's it's your action um 2AP to uh do this and to pray to your I think last session you called it your deity of theater.

SPEAKER_03

Yes.

SPEAKER_09

Um and oh no, that means Stella Adler.

SPEAKER_03

Come on.

SPEAKER_12

Oh my god.

SPEAKER_09

Uh and as you do so, you see in this uh this cat and Michael rolling around on the ground now, um, and you are just sitting there, standing there praying for a quick second, um or uh meditating. It'd probably be more of like a meditation, like a quick getting into character kind of thing. Um and as you do, um you will uh come to as you guys all kind of see this, um these little uh beads of of water um are are kind of like floating around her, kind of the the puddles that that she had made earlier from the water begin kind of floating around Sylvia, uh and uh kind of you just get this attitude, you get into character, this badass um uh badass woman Bell, maybe Southern Belle.

SPEAKER_13

Um Tennessee Williams character for sure.

SPEAKER_09

Uh as you'll uh gain the benefits of um Bless for this turn. Um and sorry, I haven't had my TD campaign, doesn't really have too many clerics in it because they're so fine.

SPEAKER_00

Uh what?

SPEAKER_14

You you weren't expecting warlock.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah. Yeah. Um yeah, yeah. You weren't expecting every little thing in an improvised campaign. No. My bad. I'm sorry. Please don't lash me. Um you'll gain a d4 on this next uh ass kicking.

unknown

Okay, okay.

SPEAKER_09

D4 of um in spur of bless.

SPEAKER_14

Okay, that was a one.

SPEAKER_09

A natural one?

SPEAKER_03

A natural one.

SPEAKER_09

Oh no. Oh no, is your god forsaken you again?

SPEAKER_03

I think it's okay, it's for the arc, guys.

SPEAKER_09

Let her have as you step forward um and hips, um, you're I'm assuming you're you're full hips going in there, um, to about to kick this thing's ass. Um, but you unfortunately you trip. And as you do, these beads of water just kind of fly everywhere as you're going up to it. Uh, and you just hear in the back of your head, hmm, honey.

SPEAKER_02

What the hell?

SPEAKER_03

My daddy is an old queen.

SPEAKER_10

Well, what's funny, what's funny is we heard this god in episode one, and I don't know if it was the same.

SPEAKER_09

Um, as you unfortunately face plants of uh literally, if if oh my god, if a drag queen ever was that mean to me in real life, I would just kill myself.

SPEAKER_10

I I now can only picture your deity as a drag queen of some like uh um fathomless.

SPEAKER_01

That was the one that was the fathomless is Tatia.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah. Um Virgil, we're back up to you. Um, and we can uh I mean this cat I will say has one HP. You guys, uh Virgil, I'd say, especially with you being invisible, you can come up and uh smack this cat, finishing it off, um, getting it off of Michael, um and finishing combat.

SPEAKER_00

That's what I do. I leaves swirl around me as I appear again, and I just fucking I just deck this guy in the face. I'm like, as they're all collabs, and we're just like all disheveled. Sylvia's on the ground from tripping. I'm just like Okay.

SPEAKER_09

As yeah, as you knock this uh third cat off again, you see that all three of the cats begin glitching and shimmering, and they all begin to shake almost violently, and then you see the cat sitting on the trash bin.

SPEAKER_00

Okay guys, can we get the fuck out of here and head to the old bridge?

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, anymore.

SPEAKER_09

Something's not right about this place, and that is where we're going to end it tonight.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_05

Oh no! Oh no, Sylvia's Sylvia's pride. Poor Sylvia.

SPEAKER_09

Um, yeah, so that is um I don't what's what's our numbering? Is this session two? Or is this session one of order? Session one of order, but session two overall. SPEAKER_10

I would say who's saying that halves?

SPEAKER_09

I mean obviously who's saying that no one's saying that. Um uh here in two weeks. Shoot, what is the date for that? Does anyone have a calendar open? I got a calendar on my computer. Uh that would be the 18th. 18th. Uh the final rule chaos session two will start, and we'll see where those gentlemen kind of end up.
